Happy New Years Colorado Springs! - Winter Watering ReminderI just received the above well wishes from our lawn care company.  They also sent a reminder "don't forget to water the yard."  Yes, believe it or not, we need to water our lawn, perennials, and trees in the winter here in Colorado Springs.  Integrated Lawn Care said that to prevent winter kill and mites, the grass needs water, particularly the south and west facing yards, and the little snow we have received so far, isn't enough for our dry Colorado Springs climate.

Colorado Springs has a white Christmas!  Here is a little known fact, Colorado Springs has only had 16 white Christmas' since 1948!  The last one was 1987 when we had 7 inches on the ground.  Now, I have lived in Colorado Springs for 7 1/2 years, and I know we have not had a white Christmas with snow, maybe frost.  We currently have about 2 inches of snow in Northern Colorado Springs.  It is quite beautiful.  This snow is sure to stay since it is cold, and expected to stay below 21 degrees.

Don't wait for the interest rates to go down any further.  Below is a great explaination of why the rates are as low as they are going to get.  When the government stops subsidising after the first quarter 2010, you will see the rates to start creeping up.

The Colorado Springs real estate market is looking pretty good!  When comparing November 2009 to November 2008, all the trends are positive. Total Sales are up 59% with Total Active Homes down 22%.  Total Homes Sold YTD is up 3.5%.  Average Sale Price is up .02% and Average days on Market is down 7 days.  The percentage of homes selling in Colorado Springs is up 6.9% with the absorption rate down 10.3 months. Academy District 20 Homes.  A recent analysis of home values in the area suggest Academy District 20 homes maintain their value better than other school districts in Colorado Springs.
 
Earlier this year we conducted an analysis of the homes sold in the three largest school districts in Colorado Springs, D-20, D-11, and D-49.  At the time we conducted
