Philip, in Westchester County NY, wrote a great article on why a price reduction really isn't money lost, the price of the home was over priced to begin with and a reduction is necessary to sell the home.  I would argue that when sellers include "negotiating room" in the price of the home, they are making the same mistake.
For Colorado Springs, our prices are quite a bit lower, so I added our market statistics for August since I just completed these for August 2010.
