Tropical Fay Went Away... Thankfully not a Hurricane! - 08/24/08 10:37 PM
Tuesday, August 19, 2008, 12 noon EST - Tropical storm Fay never reached hurricane strength, and is now past Collier County, currently in the Lee and Hendry County areas. In general, the storm was not a major event. Damage is very light in most areas----tree limbs and a very occasional downed tree. Structural damage to buildings was very light in most of the Naples/Bonita/Ft. Myers area, although we did hear of some problems toward the central part of the state, around Clewiston. The best agents in the Naples, Bonita Springs, Estero and south Fort Myers market can apparently be found at John R. Wood REALTORS@ according to a recent article in REALTOR Magazine.
While the nationwide housing market was very sluggish in 2007 and even in Southwest Florida, some area professionals still managed to shine!
JRW ranks in the Top 100 (93rd) of all real estate companies in terms of total sales volume for 2007 - $1,222,600,000.  That's Billions Sold each year!

Yesterday, my blog mentioned Donald Trump and how their were buyers out there looking.  Well, Donald's ears must have been burning because today he Spoke out and recommended buying real estate if you need a house or are unaffected by the downturn in the economy.  A few years ago before the downturn he was telling people not to buy and now he is saying that it's among the best times to buy!  As I've said before though "it's only a buyers market if you buy!"  (I highly recommend watching the video at the link provided)

Voters in Collier & Lee County were put on notice last night that they may be receiving dozens of political phone calls on behalf of campaigns.  Any voter in Florida, who entered their cell phone number on the voter reegistration card may be in for a big surprise!  The Florida Elections Office has the right to sell your persoanl cell phone number to political candidates in your area or even the parties themselves!
