mortgage rates: 30 Year Fixed Rate Average Back Under 4.00% Again

Some good news on the mortgage front! According to Freddie Mac's weekly market survey, 30, 15, and 5/1 ARM averages all moved lower with the 30 year fixed rate average dipping below 4.00%. After a significant rise the prior week, the 30 year average slid to 3.99% (with .7 points) and the 15 year fixed rate average fell to 3.23% (.8 pts). Frank Nothaft of Freddie Mac noted that interest rates drifted lower on poor housing news as the "S&P/Case Shiller® 20-City Composite home price index slid in January to its lowest reading since December 2002."Below is a sampling of Maryland Refinance … (0 comments)

Fixed mortgage rate averages headed lower last week according to Freddie Mac's most recent market survey. The 30 year fixed rate average moved down .05% to 3.90% and the 15 year fixed rate average inched lower sliding from 3.19% to 3.17% (both with .8 pts). The 5 year treasury index ARM average increased from 2.80% to 2.83% (.7 pts). Below is a snapshot of current mortgage rates pulled from ForTheBestRate.com this morning. Home mortgage rate averages remained at their all-time lows again this week according for Freddie Mac's Primary Mortgage Market Survey. The 30 year average came in at 3.87% (.8 points) and the 15 year average equaled the previous week's mark of 3.16% (.8 points).
