I'd like to try to bridge the gap between the UK and Florida. I recently had a buyer from the United Kingdom ask me to detail how a real estate transaction happens here in Davenport, FL. So I thought I'd put together a guide to help him along and hopefully help you along as well.

I just had a closing last week on a home for a couple of guys in the UK that I now consider to be my friends. They contacted me back in the beginning of March and were looking for a nice home to purchase in Davenport, Florida as an investment property.

Do you remember those old commercials from Hair Club For Men? The ones where the president boldly declared, "I'm not just the president, I'm a client!" Well that's how I feel right now. Ok, go ahead and get the bald jokes out of the way now. I know it's coming, but if you can't laugh at yourself, you aren't living right?
But I digress. Let me get to the point. I have been telling my clients for the last couple months that it's time to get in on the real estate market while the getting is good.

home buying: Had My First Closing…Boy Was It A Doozey - 02/14/10 12:05 PM
At last…some satisfaction!!! I had my first closing on Thursday and man was it a long time coming. I broke into the real estate business last October with the firm knowledge that it could take me 6 months to get to my first closing.
No problem, I thought, I’m hungry and I’ll go for it. I started working with my first buyer about 2 weeks after I got my license. Luckily, my first buyer ended up being an extremely nice person who understood that I would be learning the business while working with him.
