Moving to the country provides space between neighbors that city dwellers are seeking.  Buyers will often come and stand in what could be their new front yard and stretch, and look around to measure the distance between them and their potential new neighbors.  I have seen homes on large amounts of acreage not be chosen by a buyer because the neighbor is just too close. There may be a bigger problem in the choice of a country home: a deed restriction.

In 1999, after a major medical issue in my life, my husband went on a mission to get me to move to the country~particularly Farmville, VA.  Not that I am a city girl, but I am a rapid paced human. I thrive on action and energy.  Moving to the country seemed, well lame.
I dodged the bullet in 1999.  But in 2001 it came up again.  I was deeply impacted by the 9/11 events and I promised my husband that I would go to the country with him and our family.

Okay, I admit it, I am sitting watching American Idol.  We started many seasons ago because my kids loved it.  They have since left my husband and I to watch it on our own.  And we have stayed with it.  I don't watch much television, but when I do I need it to be easy to watch, funny, entertaining.

Listing inventory of vacant homes has increased in Central Virginia. I have seen an increase in my listing inventory of vacant homes.  As this inventory has grown, the challenges I face have increased.  Bank owned properties have a different set of concerns, this LIST is for the private homeowner.

I love helping buyers find a home that meets their needs.  For me, it is a little like a mystery novel.  Where they start and where they finish are often 2 different visions. 
I love the buyer who has done their research. Sometimes they miss the mark on what their next house should or shouldn't have.  Here are some of my casual observations.
