No, there is no commitment to buy a home, I think if you love living here too you will stay and become a viable member of this community that I love. I would love an hour of your time to give you a tour of my town. Famville, VA has become a great place to live and work for me, I think

farmville: Seller's Vacant Checklist~Secure the Property - 01/08/11 10:31 PM
Listing inventory of vacant homes has increased in Central Virginia. I have seen an increase in my listing inventory of vacant homes. As this inventory has grown, the challenges I face have increased. Bank owned properties have a different set of concerns, this LIST is for the private homeowner. Please notify your insurance company of the change in occupancy. Pretending like your home isn't vacant doesn't make it so. They need to know and sometimes there are changes that need to be made to comply with the insurance company. Plan on leaving your utilities on. Do not leave a cold or hot

farmville: There is a New Real Estate Broker in Town - 01/08/11 07:11 AM
Yes, there is a new real estate broker in town and that broker is me. I woke up this week and had some revelations. I thought I would share them with you, because I think you and your business could benefit from them. I told my husband, my clients, my friends that I am really enjoying the NEW ME! #1 I am running on a smaller staff. At first I thought I couldn't do it all. I worried that the quality would suffer. What I have found is that by touching more of my work, I have found my passion again.

farmville: Every One Needs An Honest Mechanic - 01/05/11 10:47 PM
Welcome to Farmville, VA! A great place to live. I try to give referrals for the best of the best when you are here to visit or to live. Today, I had a great experience with a local mechanic, it is one of many encounters with this shop and I wanted to share! I had a headlamp out on my car. Happened over the weekend, and I didn't want to continue to drive without a headlamp. I called Bailey's Auto Service on Tuesday and set up to bring my car by first thing today. The office manager arranged it so I could

farmville: Today, I Needed a Body Double! - 01/04/11 09:57 PM
If today is any indication of the times ahead, I am going to need another me. Ever have one of those days? Where you just don't get done what you set out to do? Welcome to my today! I left the office at 7 pm. All the way home I thought of what I hadn't gotten done today: A CMA; a buyer call; a potential listing; the deed from the courthouse; the list was expanding in my head on my 10 minute ride home. After a nice dinner prepared by my husband--this is normal and one day I will give you

farmville: Buyers~Making a List and Checking it Twice - 01/03/11 06:51 AM
I love helping buyers find a home that meets their needs. For me, it is a little like a mystery novel. Where they start and where they finish are often 2 different visions. I love the buyer who has done their research. Sometimes they miss the mark on what their next house should or shouldn't have. Here are some of my casual observations. Do not search for a home based on square footage alone. I understand the need to have a certain amount of living space, but that space is not defined the same in every home. Often how many rooms you

farmville: A Dryer for Christmas, Oh My! - 12/27/10 06:54 AM
It was the eve of Christmas Eve, and preparing for the holiday was our top priority. So you can imagine my dismay when the dryer started to squeal and squeak. It was early morning, so I had hope that a local appliance dealer/repair shop may be able to fit me in for a repair that day. When I called at 8 am, Billy Poulston of Poulston's said he would send Jonathan first thing. Upon Jonathan's arrival he took the entire dryer apart. There was a missing sock hiding in the drum~I of course was disappointed that only one was to be found. After

farmville: Grandama Knows Best - 12/14/10 07:23 AM
Recently I had the opportunity to spend a morning with my 88 almost 89 year old grandma. I don't get these opportunities often and jump at them when I can. She had come for a visit to my mothers and I had volunteered to take her out for the morning. I went and picked her at 8 am, she was dressed and ready to go and we were off for our adventure. She is slow and steady on her feet, her brain is sharp and her hearing is getting worse. We went to breakfast at a local restaurant, The Riverside Cafe. She ordered a

farmville: Small Businesses Thriving in Small Towns - 12/11/10 08:04 PM
Welcome to Farmville, VA. Farmville is a small town with a sleepy main street. Recently a small local bakery decided to open on Friday nights! A group of my friends and I always get excited when someone is willing to provide social opportunities and so of course we were there for Friday night's festivities! As we gathered to place orders we greeted neighbors and friends that had already gathered to order and enjoy a new opportunity for food and drink after dark. Spirits were high and business was brisk. We sat and enjoyed our food and drinks as more people

farmville: Feeling the Holiday Spirit in Farmville - 12/10/10 09:37 AM
The first weekend in December always proves just how many opportunities there are in this wonderful little town of Farmville. This year there were even more events than ever and I had to pick and choose which to attend. There was no reason for anyone to complain about having nothing to do! We are blessed by the opportunities brought to us by the location of Longwood University in town and Hampden-Sydney College nearby. The Longwood Center for the Visual Arts is located right in the heart of Downtown Farmville at the intersection of two of the busiest streets. There are exhibitions

farmville: Old Style Business in an Upcoming Town - 12/07/10 06:26 PM
It was a cold and blistery day in Farmville, VA, when my car needed gas. I was fortunate and blessed to have a place to stop and get gas and not have to leave the comfort of my warm and cozy car. Yes, you read that right, I did not leave my car and I got a full tank of gas. Pure is a locally owned gas station that provides full service fill ups at the same price of most other local gas stations. It is open from 7 AM to 8 PM. The staff are a talkative and caring bunch. farmville: My mother-in-law is moving to town - 03/14/10 08:19 AM
I love my town! We have great events, a small town feel, the ability to participate in aspects of the community. It is a fantastic place to call home. So when my mother-in-law decided to relocate for retirement to Farmville, VA I was excited. She would be able to live and breathe what I have grown to love. She is arriving tomorrow to buy a home. And I am frantically looking for a home for her to call her own. I have called my fellow Realtors to see if they have future listings coming on the market, I have searched for for sale by owners, I have walked

farmville: Today I Witnessed an Accident - 03/10/10 09:33 PM
I have a corner office overlooking a busy intersection in my local town, Farmville, VA. I usually do not pay much attention to the makes, models, colors of cars or their drivers that go by the window. I will even have friends or past clients who will drive by and say they waved and I didn't see them. I am often awakened from my daydreaming or ADD when a siren from a ambulance or firetruck goes flying by. Today I was on the phone with a client when I heard a loud crash. I looked up to see a small blue
