Playing around with video blogging

I decided to integrate Viddler into my primary site and experiment with video blogging. I'm not a huge fan of seeing myself on video, but I think it will be a great opportunity to increase awareness of what exactly it is that I do. One big issue I had to overcome is the search engine optimization of using video, so I integrated an option to read the transcript of my videos, which the search engines can read just as if they were always present on the page. I'll report back with my findings as they roll in.

I'm so happy I had an old blog post...

I was at the Real Estate Bar Camp in Seattle and thought, "All of these ActiveRain guys are so nice/friendly/helpful, I really should give this site another chance." Not that I didn't like AR, I just wasn't completely understanding it. I decided it was time to come back, investigate, play and learn.

Then they announced their new payment program. I think it makes perfect sense, but I also knew right now wasn't a great time for me to be signing up for more paid services. Luckily, I had a couple of old "test" posts from a while back that allowed me to be grandfathered in.

So the design is updated, and I'll be hanging out around here a bit more to see everything I can to take full advantage of this system to take back to the real estate professionals I work with.

Server move

The people who created my site have seen their traffic severely impacted by the southern California fires, so there are setting up a redundant server elsewhere in the country tonight. During the changeover, my site may go down. I'm not pulling it, it'll be back up very soon. But it has made me realize I need to diversify my locations in which I post, so I will be a more active member of this community very soon.
