Home Inspector Raleigh 27607 finds defective cast-in sink - 10/23/08 08:42 PM
Another Raleigh NC Home Inspection in 27607. New construction and this home inspector found the overflow passage in one master bath sink had a leak. This was a cast-in, cultured marble top and these leaks are somewhat uncommon but I check them all just in case. We found a flashing issue on the roof, a defective smoke detector, a soft spot in the floor, a under-floor girder not resting on the foundation wall and several other items. My client was very pleased with hiring us as her Home Inspector in Raleigh.

Raleigh Home Inspection - high Radon Levels - 10/20/08 09:12 AM
During our Raleigh Home Inspection a few weeks ago, we found radon levels at approximately 8 picocuries per liter. The EPA safe limit for indoor air is 4.0. All is not lost as the levels can be reduced through ventilation installed by a radon mitigation company. And, remember that radon levels vary from home to home (most houses we test are below the 4.0 limit). As a home buyer, it is much better to test for radon now rather than after the sale. If the Raleigh home has high radon levels, you can generally negotiate with the seller. However, if you

Clayton NC Home Inspector finds rotted foundation framing - 10/10/08 08:56 PM
We inspected a 1997 home in Clayton NC (close to Raleigh NC) and noted a lack of flashing between the deck and siding early in the inspection. The very last thing we check is the crawl space. The lack of flashing allowed water to travel behind the siding and attack the wood foundation wall and framing. This Clayton NC home inspector found that the wall and framing components were wet and soft to probing. The rear deck and siding will have to be removed to assess the damage - a major repair. This is why a home inspection on a new

Broken truss in Fuquay Home Inspection (27526) - 10/09/08 11:49 PM
We did a home inspection today in Fuquay NC and found a broken truss in the attic. This should have been repaired during construction but sometimes things get missed. This is pretty minor in comparison to other structural issues but should be repaired regardless. Our home inspector (27526) found a damaged window and broken shingles as well.

Raleigh Home Inspection 27613 - home inspector finds gas vent problem - 10/08/08 03:47 PM
Inspected a 1980's home today and found the usual items and one a little more exciting. This Raleigh home inspection revealed a corroded and partially disconnected flue pipe from the gas water heater. The water heater was located in the interior of the home. The exhaust by-products could enter the home - potentially creating a dangerous situation. The buyer was very happy that I discovered this during his home inspection.
