clayton nc home inspection: Clayton NC Home Inspection - new home - wet crawl space - 07/15/09 09:12 PM
This is a perfect example why everyone should have a home inspected - even a new home. May people forgoe the home inspection as the mind set is "what could possbily be wrong with a new home?" Well, lots of things. Our Clayton NC Home Inspection turned up a significant moisture problem in the crawl space (we've seen this before on brand new houses - so this is not one in a million). Condensation was dripping from the insulation, framing and puddles were found on the ground. A Clayton NC Home Inspection is very, very important.

clayton nc home inspection: Clayton NC Home Inspection - new home - 07/14/09 09:51 PM

clayton nc home inspection: Clayton NC Home Inspection; cut floor joist (new construction) - 04/25/09 08:41 PM
Another Clayton NC Home Inspection in the books with nearly 35 items in need of repair (new construction). One of the more noteworthy items is the floor joist that had been cut to allow a plumbing drain pipe to pass through. Joists get cut as construction and planning are not perfect. However, they must be braced properly to avoid potential settlement and sagging problems (I have seen plenty of this on older homes). This is one more example of why a Clayton NC Home Inspection should be considered mandatory. Clear Choice Home Inspections is located in Clayton NC (just East of

clayton nc home inspection: Home Inspection Clayton NC (outside of Raleigh) - 04/19/09 08:23 PM
We completed a Clayton NC Home Inspection on a new house over the weekend. Clayton is just East of Raleigh and offers a lower price per sq ft and larger lots (typically). Our Home Inspection generated a list of about 35 items - most were typical "teething" issues found in new construction. This Home Inspector found a floor joist that was notched greater than allowed (weakens the framing), a few outlets that were not protected by a GFCI circuit as required (both were in "wet" outdoor areas) and the most exciting issue was the stone veneer outside wall cladding that was

clayton nc home inspection: Clayton NC Home Inspection; structural problem in crawl space - 04/09/09 08:40 PM
A Clayton NC Home Inspection last week turned up several minor issues and one structural problem. When inspecting the crawl space we noted the soil around a block pier was cracked and slightly lower than the surrounding soil. The pier was slightly leaning and it was no longer in contact with the girder above it; pier is supposed to support the girder. The pier sunk and a PE will need to evaluate further to determine if the pier has stabilized or if work is needed. Also, during our Clayton NC Home Inspection, we found a good deal of wet soil and

clayton nc home inspection: Home Inspection Clayton NC - wet crawl space - 03/21/09 08:39 AM
This home was built in the late 1990's and overall looked good other than one big issue. Our Home Inspection in Clayton NC turned up a very wet crawl space. Not just around the perimeter, it was damp in many areas throughout with several puddles. Not from plumbing leaks, this was due to water issues coming from outside and under / through the foundation. Mitigation costs will be significant. A Clayton NC Home Inspection always pays for iteself.

clayton nc home inspection: Clayton NC Home Inspection - heat not working properly - 03/04/09 06:27 AM
We completed a Clayton NC Home Inspection yesterday and found the heating system to be in need of repair. The temperature split for this heat pump was inadequate and we told the client a mechanical contractor needed to evaluate the unit. During this Home Inspection we found several other items that needed repair but the heat was the most significant. For more information about our Clayton NC Home Inspection services, please see our web site.

clayton nc home inspection: Home Inspection Clayton NC - air conditioner problem - 12/30/08 07:31 AM
During a recent Home Inspection in Clayton NC, we found an HVAC problem with a brand new home. We were fortunate that the weather was unseasonably warm and that allowed us to test the air conditioner. This Clayton NC Home Inspector found that the upstairs air conditioner did not function; the blower fan came on but the air was ambient. My client was happy that I noticed this problem before closing so that it could be addressed. Otherwise, they probably would not have discovered it until Spring when they really needed the air conditioning. Finding HVAC problems is very common during

clayton nc home inspection: Clayton NC Home Inspection - electrical problem - 11/20/08 02:57 PM
During our latest Clayton NC Home Inspection, we inspected a brand new 3,300 sq ft house and found a wire in the main electrical panel that was overfused. An innocent mistake, but I am glad we caught it as the breaker would not trip until the circuit saw at least 20 amps (the breaker size) and the wire was only rated for 15. It is nearly impossible to build a perfect house and that is why a home inspection in Clayton NC (and all other areas) is so important. A few of the other items our home inspector noted: a smoke

clayton nc home inspection: Clayton NC Home Inspector finds rotted foundation framing - 10/10/08 08:56 PM
We inspected a 1997 home in Clayton NC (close to Raleigh NC) and noted a lack of flashing between the deck and siding early in the inspection. The very last thing we check is the crawl space. The lack of flashing allowed water to travel behind the siding and attack the wood foundation wall and framing. This Clayton NC home inspector found that the wall and framing components were wet and soft to probing. The rear deck and siding will have to be removed to assess the damage - a major repair. This is why a home inspection on a new

clayton nc home inspection: home inspection clayton nc - new house with wet crawl space - 09/02/08 08:55 PM
Clear Choice Home Inspections completed a Clayton NC home inspection on a house that was only six months old. The highlight? Wet framing / wood in the crawl space all around the rear deck. This was really a shame on a moderately expensive house (about $300K) that was so new. This photo does not show the full extent of what we uncovered during our Clayton NC home inspection but gives you an idea. Given enough time, the framing members will rot and the owner would have to fork out thousands to repair. Now, the builder will fix it since the home

clayton nc home inspection: Home Inspection Clayton NC - 07/28/08 07:20 PM
We had two home inspections in Clayton NC today. One new construction and about 5 years old. The new home was not ready even through the inspection had been delayed three times. No electricity. Closing may get delayed. Things happen during home inspections on new construction. The older home had a few issues that stand out (15 total): A/C was not cooling properly (could be a leak and hopefully not in the evaporator core) and the smoke detectors did not function properly. This was likely the case when the house was built but the owner may not have had a home
