It's Race Week!!! Buy all the milk and bread and stay indoors! - 05/17/08 11:30 PM
Well it's time once again for the big race week here in Concord NC at Lowe's Motor Speedway.  Folks from all walks of life are camping in tents, RV's, and pop ups to enjoy the atmosphere and family fun of our race festivities.  This weekend is the All Star race and next weekend is the big 600 race.
For those coming to town over the next week or so, plan carefully.  To stay out of traffic, avoid Speedway Boulevard at Exit 49 as well as Morehead Road between Highway 29 and 49.  If you're in Concord going to Harrisburg, try the … (1 comments)

Awesome tech site informs about latest trends...Get the Scoop... - 05/17/08 11:13 PM
A couple of months ago I found a great site run by a young couple who have made it their full time business to try out tech gadgets, websites and software and report on it for all to learn.
The site is www.GeekBrief.tv and the host is Cali Lewis.  The behind the scenes camera guy and partner is her husband Neil (great name by the way).  They do a great job nearly every day producing a 5-10 minute brief on the latest technology.  I've learned about lots of new stuff from them.
So go check them out and find out about … (0 comments)

Who's going to the Howard Brinton StarPower Conference in Orlando in July??? - 05/17/08 11:10 PM
So who out there is attending the StarPower Conference this year?  I went two years ago, but skipped last year.  This year, my younger brother (taking PreLicensing as we speak) is entering the real estate business as a member of The Pender Group Real Estate Specialists serving greater Charlotte NC, Concord NC and the surrounding areas.  He's a people person and has lived in our market his whole life. He'll be a natural.
So I thought it'd be a great boost for his career to experience the motivation, energy and skill building of this awesome event.  There's not a buyer university … (0 comments)

VisualTour.com great for helping buyers... - 05/17/08 11:05 PM
Lately I've been using my longstanding membership with VisualTour.com to assist my buyers from out of town.  Today, I took pictures of some inspection items at the house my clients are buying so that the husband who has not yet seen the house, can get a better idea of what those issues look like.
Three weeks ago I took lots of pictures of this same house, making a more extensive virtual tour so that both clients could see it since they were both back in Virginia when we located this house.  Because of the virtual tour (and based on the wife's … (0 comments)

"Everything must go!!!" Cars, boats, everything's included! - 05/15/08 08:51 PM
This morning a future listing client (a friend of mine who has been fixing up his house near Harrisburg NC for several months now as per my suggestions) called me and asked "Would it be too redneck for me to include my two used vehicles (a Jeep and an Accord) in with the house when we list it?"
Then about an hour later, another client whose house I currently have listed in The Peninsula on Lake Norman in Cornelius NC, called and said "I want to include my boat with my house listing so maybe we can get some more … (0 comments)

Remember our obligations to not only our clients but to the other side (the customer) as well - 05/15/08 04:10 PM
I was referred to a first time buyer last week.  They are a young couple with a little girl and they came to me from a mortgage broker with whom I do a good amount of business.  We found a house they liked in Charlotte NC, and when I called to speak to the listing agent to ask some questions, his voicemail led me to his assistant's mobile number.  I called this number and she picked up right away.  It turned out she was the owner of the house I was calling to ask about.  Immediately, I realized the importance of … (0 comments)

Don't believe the hype...the Charlotte NC market is doing just fine... - 05/15/08 03:43 PM
While waiting in line to take my mom to lunch on Mother's Day, I had a brief conversation with a lady who, upon hearing that I'm in real estate, immediately said "Wow, it must be hard for you right now."  She honestly perplexed me so I asked her what she meant.  She said that she's heard how bad the market is right now, so I must be struggling.  I told her "That's just not true."  The media goes to great lengths to make situations out to be much worse than they are.  I hardly watch the evening news anymore because of … (0 comments)

Let's go further than required to help build trust back into the minds of the consumer - 05/15/08 03:08 PM
In today's newspaper the Charlotte Observer, an article caught my eye concerning agents taking bonuses without disclosing that fact to the clients involved. While there is only a verbal requirement to disclose agent bonuses, we as agents DO have a form called the "Confirmation of Agency" which gives us two lines to disclose both our commission as well as any bonuses that are a part of the transaction. Personally, I use this form with every sale. As in any industry, there are good agents and bad ones. There will always be someone who tries to get away with all they can. Those … (0 comments)
