Fewer Dallas Homeowners Upside Down on Their mortgage - 12/16/10 10:47 AM
The good news for 2011 is that fewer homeowners in Dallas

Tx are upside down on their mortgage.  CoreLogic Inc. recently reported that at the end of September, 13.9% of Dallas homeowners owed more than their home is worth. This is definitely good news compared to the 2009 peak of upside down homeowners in Dallas that hovered around 30%. The reason for the decline is that more homeowners are paying down their mortgages as well as the high number of foreclosures in the Dallas area that have helped considerably. Thinking of buying a home in 2011?  You can have perfect credit and a great income but if  the home your buying doesn't appraise for the contract value then the bank won't lend the money unless you the buyer makes up the difference or if the seller is willing to come down to the appraised value.  Definitely makes you want to pull your hair out if you have to deal with a low appraisal!
