Time to get out? Or to Have a Happy New Year? - 12/31/07 11:37 AM
Many are looking back and reflecting on the year that has just passed, and that is understandable... My biggest complaint for last year is that I am tired of listening to the doom and gloom of the media and of most people in the real estate business.. Yes, 07' was different to 06' and way different to 04'-05'. It drives me crazy to hear people complain about things they can not change instead of adapting and taking advantage of new opportunities. Real estate, as a profession, has one of the highest turn over rates of any business. People go out, get … (6 comments)

Are you updating you Lender / Escrow Officer lists for 08? - 12/28/07 12:09 PM
Most agents have good relationships with a few lenders, escrow officers etc. that we like to work with. I'm sure you have noticed the change in their industries with offices downsizing and people, like some of our Realtor peers, changing or being forced out of their jobs. Over the past few years, I have worked with many different escrow officers and loan officers, many of these people were working with the buyer's agent through the sale of one of our listings. Recently, I tried a little experiment to see how many of the lenders and escrow officers from my database were still around. … (8 comments)

$85,000 cell phone bill! - 12/15/07 02:58 PM
As Realtors, we are some "power users" of cell phones, laptops etc. I thought of agents when I read this headline. The Yahoo link is here.
For family, work etc I know that my household spends hundreds of dollars a month to "stay connected". Can you imagine this guys surprise when he saw this bill? How funny..
Remember the old "brick" style cell phone that had air-time charges near $1.00 PER Minute? Now, we talk thousands of minutes a month for "peanuts."  The add ons for texting, web access, email etc can add up a little but I sure do love the convenience. … (12 comments)

Snowman - Arizona Style.. - 12/13/07 12:02 AM
For most people across the country, when you think of Arizona, you don't always think of snow. Typically, it is not one of my first thoughts either and I have lived here for over 35 years. This week, my wife and I took the kids on a trip to Northern Arizona to ride the Polar Express. This is a train trip where the kids get to ride to the North Pole and see Santa. Turns out, the day we were going, there was a pretty substantial snow storm in the Flagstaff area where our cabin is. Luckily, the North Pole isn't all … (10 comments)

For AZ Light Rail, the future is bright.. - 12/08/07 08:27 PM
With only about a year left before Arizona's Light Rail line is set to begin carrying passengers, I have seen many changes so far with many more to come. One in particular was the addition of the bridge spanning Tempe Town Lake. Nearly $22 million was spent to build an award winning bridge to carry light rail cars and passengers from one side of the lake to the other.
Tempe Town Lake plays a major part in the new light rail systemThe bridge design includes a state-of-the-art fiber-optic lighting system that can change colors as the train crosses and provide other interesting visual effects. A fiber optic … (2 comments)

Tempe's Mill Avenue District is really "Growing Up." - 12/06/07 08:15 PM
The many new developments in Tempe are fun to watch. From Bridgeview to  Mosaic to Centerpointe to the new Monti's project, the Mill Avenue District is really "growing up." Soon, the Valley's Light Rail system will travel right through the community. If you haven't been down there lately, you will be amazed. If you have, you can't help but notice how "alive" the area is. People of all walks of life enjoy this area. From small coffee shops to million dollar condos with HOA fees in the $1500.00 per month range! :-) The park, the lake and near by hiking at … (0 comments)
