relocation package: Nick Bastian talks Tempe Real Estate with Fox 10 - 09/23/08 01:26 PM
Recently, I was invited to the Fox 10 studios to talk about real estate and my business. This was a great opportunity for me to help people get a better feel for what I do. Basically, I was able to share:
1. A little bit of my background. I talked about living in the area for over 35 years and about the fact that I have been selling real estate in the valley for the past 16 years.
2. Some of the tools we use to help clients. Everyone knows that most people begin their search on the internet. We will continue to … (11 comments)

relocation package: A referral based business - 08/06/08 11:21 PM
I am very fortunate to have built a business in real estate that is focused on the trust of past clients and on personal relationships. In this challenging market, I believe it will be the agents that didn't recently jump in for a "fast buck" that will come out on top. Not only do I enjoy keeping in contact with past clients, I also enjoy keeping in contact with top-notch agents and lenders from all over the country. These relationships help me to keep up on trends, industry news and ways to constantly improve my business. I recently attended 2 real … (10 comments)

relocation package: Arizona's evolving transportation system - 07/30/08 12:39 PM
Last week, I was in San Francisco for two different real estate conferences. I had a great time, and enjoyed the convenience of utilizing San Francisco's public transportation system. I specifically picked a hotel that was between the two conferences and was adjacent to a BART station so that I could try it all out. From the airport, during traffic, I was at my hotel in less than a half hour and the cost was just over five bucks. The bus system on Market street was surprising to me as well. I recall seeing at least 4 different types of bus that … (4 comments)

relocation package: Tempe Bargain at $92.5 Million? - 06/28/08 01:23 PM
I was a little surprised that SunCor decided to sell one of their two office towers at Hayden Ferry Lakeside to New York based Sumitomo corp. While some of the projects in and around the Mill Avenue District have been delayed, canceled or had different "financing issues" come up, the Hayden Ferry project is one that seems to have it all. Great location, great views, easy access to freeways, the airport and the upcoming light rail line etc.. The project is a wonderful mix of commercial and residential uses.
The commercial building that has been sold has a decent tenant in Smith Barney. … (3 comments)

relocation package: Gardening - a new "trend" in residential real estate? - 06/04/08 10:50 AM
Funny how some topics tend to pop up in abundance every once in a while. For me, the topic of gardening has been raised by more than a few people lately. Recently, I spoke with some friends in Scottsdale that have been growing vegetables, herbs etc in their back yard. With the rising price of fruits and vegetables, it seems like they are probably not alone. The reasons for gardening can be many. From saving a few bucks to enjoying a hobby to doing your part in "saving the earth." My uncle is president of a local gardening club so I occasionally get … (5 comments)

relocation package: Tempe Arizona Relocation Package - 03/04/08 11:28 PM
Tempe Arizona is an amazing place to live, work and play. People come from all over the world to experience our incredible lifestyle, climate and all around great community. The diversity of housing options is astounding and ranges from Spanish to Urban design and from affordable to ultra luxury. We also have everything from lakeside properties to horse ranches and anything else in between,

At just over 40 square miles in size and a 2010 projection calling for just shy of 175,000 people, Tempe packs quite a punch. The balance of working and playing within the community is hard to beat. As the only city … (12 comments)

relocation package: Tempe Art's and Entertainment - 02/23/08 07:30 PM
In the past, we have mentioned some of Tempe's outdoor activities so I thought I'd share a little bit about the Arts scene as well.. Tempe. AZ has a really great Arts and Entertainment "vibe" that is supported by many different parts of our community. In fact, if you go to the City of Tempe site, you will find an "events calendar" for "Arts". There, you will also find information about the Tempe Historical Museum.
One of the many really fun events is the Tempe Festival of the Arts held on the "famous" Mill Avenue. While the Tempe Festival of the Arts primarily focuses on … (8 comments)

relocation package: More Transportation Convience Coming to Tempe via Light Rail - 02/16/08 11:49 PM
In December of 2008, Arizona will have a brand new Light Rail system running from Phoenix through Tempe and in to Mesa via a 20 mile "starter" line. Tempe is a centrally located city surrounded by freeways, minutes from Sky Harbor Airport and is conveniently located near jobs, and many different housing options.  Our community bus system is growing in popularity but the coming Light Rail line will have a huge impact for many ASU students and Tempe residents. As you can see from the map, Light Rail will run East/West along Apache turning North/West through the heart of ASU, past Sun Devil Stadium and through the … (2 comments)

relocation package: Have Fun, WORKING in Tempe - 02/11/08 04:05 PM
Many people know that I truly love living and working in Tempe, AZ. While our great state has many quality communities and a diverse job base, I can think of no place I'd rather live.
By far, the largest employer in our City is Arizona State University employing over 10,500 people! ASU is a huge campus on approximately 700 acres with many fascinating and ever growing research and development sectors. While the list of Tempe's Top Employersis extensive, it would be hard to get the feeling for how nice the community is by reading the list. Many of the smaller, "mom and pop" shops … (2 comments)

relocation package: Tempe, AZ. - An outdoor lovers paradise - 01/28/08 01:53 PM
Tempe Arizona is an amazing city that has a lot of really great outdoor activities. For outdoor enthusiasts, most activities are available year round. For instance, the average high temperature in January is 68 degrees while the average low temperature is 40 degrees. Yep, it is beautiful here!.
The Tempe Town Lake area is a great asset to our community featuring boat rentals, kayaking, walking trails, grassy areas, a splash pad for kids and is a great place to watch the fireworks on the 4th of July! The lake has also played host to music festivals, the Way Out West Oktoberfest, the Arizona Ironman competition, the PF Chang's Rock n Roll … (9 comments)

relocation package: DMB has big plans for Mesa Gateway Area - 01/17/08 02:59 PM
A recent article gives us a glimpse of some more information concerning DMB's plans for their new community in the Gateway area of Mesa.  The mention of 2 new golf courses, 3000-4000 new hotel rooms, a large park system and mixed use developments of commercial and residential sounds like quite a change to the area. If you take a look around and notice the proximity to two freeway systems, an airport, an ASU campus and a rail system you begin to have one of those "ah-ha" moments that DMB has already figured out.  This project appears to fit in very well with the master plan for the … (2 comments)

relocation package: Tempe's Mill Avenue District is really "Growing Up." - 12/06/07 08:15 PM
The many new developments in Tempe are fun to watch. From Bridgeview to  Mosaic to Centerpointe to the new Monti's project, the Mill Avenue District is really "growing up." Soon, the Valley's Light Rail system will travel right through the community. If you haven't been down there lately, you will be amazed. If you have, you can't help but notice how "alive" the area is. People of all walks of life enjoy this area. From small coffee shops to million dollar condos with HOA fees in the $1500.00 per month range! :-) The park, the lake and near by hiking at … (0 comments)
