tempe: Tempe Talking Transit - Again - 02/17/12 11:40 AM
More than any other city in Arizona that I can think of, Tempe loves it’s transit system. From the bus system to the Orbit neighborhood circulators to the very popular light rail system, tens of thousands of people move through Tempe neighborhoods each day via public transportation. While a thriving public transit system has some very clear benefits, they do not come without costs. Budget cuts, economic pressures and changing business environments can all play a part in the services provided. There have been many studies over the past few years concerning the viability of the Tempe transit systems. Our

tempe: Name That Tempe Brew - 02/19/11 07:29 AM
Incase you haven’t heard, it’s beer week in Arizona. As part of beer week, there just happens to be a bunch of fun beer stuff going on. Some of the participants in all of the craziness are the beer drinkers at Dave’s Electric Brewpub. Dave’s has a new brew coming out soon and it is brewed right here in Tempe. This is a classic IPA and is a similar recipe to the current Industrial Pale Ale they sell but with a higher alcohol content and higher hop content. Even though it isn’t completely ready for production, I got to try

Tempe is a great community to live in. Tons of housing choices, good schools, good transportation system and some great people make up this awesome community. While budget cuts are a reality everywhere you look, Tempe has done a pretty good job in not having to severely hinder our way of life. Here’s an example from a recent article talking about Tempe Police Chief Tom Ryff “Doing More With Less.” According to Chief Tom Ryff, a deep commitment to protect and serve by the entire department was at the core of helping to fight crime with less money. Lots of people love a good burger. At Smashburger in Tempe, they serve a really good burger. This Wednesday, October 27th, Tempe residents have an opportunity to grab some tasty grub and help out a local school at the same time. In fact, just by having lunch at the Smashburger on the southwest corner of Rural and Baseline in Tempe they will donate 25% of your purchase to Grace Community Christian School. How cool is that!?! My wife and I will be meeting some friends there at 11:30am while the kids are at school so that we can have some fun

tempe: Tempe Talkin' Google Fiber - Looking For Help - 03/08/10 05:22 PM
Last week, there was a bunch of talk about Google Fiber possibly coming to Tempe. You might be wondering, "what the heck is Google Fiber?" Well, from the Google site, we find they are doing a national "contest" to bring high speed data to people at a "competitive" cost. "Google is planning to launch an experiment that we hope will make Internet access better and faster for everyone. We plan to test ultra-high speed broadband networks in one or more trial locations across the country. Our networks will deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have

tempe: ASU fans enjoying "Railgating" - 10/30/09 11:15 AM
Not long ago, I came up with the term RailGating. Basically, it is a new way for people to enjoy the football games at Sun Devil Stadium while avoiding traffic and parking nightmares. Now that we have light rail available to drop people off right in front of Sun Devil Stadium, many people are using it to get to the games and a new term has been introduced to light rail riding Sun Devils. RailGating is here… Soon, it will be an art form. There is no right or wrong way to railgate, just have fun. There will be people that

tempe: Enjoy Tempe Oktoberfest this weekend! - 10/01/09 11:14 PM
Oktoberfest at Tempe Town Lake is this weekend! With the weather looking good and the huge list of fun things being offered, who could say no? The Tempe Oktoberfest will be held Friday, October 2nd through Sunday, October 4th at Tempe Town Lake. Of course, the easiest way to get to all of the cool events at Town Lake ( in our opinion) is for you to take the light rail to 3rd Street and Mill. The FREE light rail park and ride lots make the trip very convenient. This year’s event looks to have something for everyone. There will be

tempe: AZ Real Estate Agents - Sign Here! - 09/07/09 05:16 PM
I have mentioned it before, but I LOVE DocuSign for electronic signatures. Talk about a great product for our real estate business - it just can't be beat. In fact, I have also mentioned that DocuSign is so cool, even my mother-in-law loves it. :-) Another thing I love is networking and yes, "social-networking" is a great way to network with clients, business professionals and the media. Over the past couple of months, I have enjoyed "meeting" An Bui from Docusign. Actually, An and I have never met in person, we have met on-line, mainly through her DocuSign Twitter updates. When

tempe: Tempe TweetUp - A great networking opportunity - 07/05/09 11:03 PM
Most people know, the world is a Twitter. This social networking platform has MANY uses for many types of people. The effectiveness of it's use depends on the effectiveness of the person sending the "tweets." Of course, there is worthless dribble on Twitter but there is also a TON of breaking news, community specific information and opportunities to communicate with people you may have never had the opportunity to meet "in person." I am really looking forward to this Wednesday's TweetUp in Tempe at the Sign of the Whale. Why? Because I know it will be a FUN time and a
