Another new sport that people are really enjoying is stand up paddling. We just had the Butterfly effect event on Maui. It's an all woman event and there were over 200 paddlers from Baldwin Beach to Kanaha beach. There are three or four race events that have a big turn out. Windsurfing in Northshore Maui at Hookipa Beach Park

Hookipa Beach Park is the center of the universe for windsurfing in the world. Hands down best location with steady trade winds and excellent surf. I really love living on Maui's north shore. This morning we were having no wind with glassy conditions. So heading out this morning with my wife launching at Spreckelsville for a morning stand up paddle to Kanaha Beach Park and back. That is what its about living on Maui. When the surf and wind kick in it gets exciting with windsurfing at places like Hookipa Beach, Spreckelsville and Kanaha Maui.

Paia Maui is like the capital of windsurfing, with kiters, windsurfers, surfers and stand up boarders hitting some of Paia Maui's favorite place to eat after a day in the water. Couple of my favorite places include Paia Fish Market, or places like Flat Bread Pizza which attract visitors from all over the island.

Maui also draws big wave surfers to places like Jaws on Maui's Northshore. This winter they held the opening cermony with top big wave chargers from around the world.

Here is a friend of mine George from Germany. He is a regular visitor to Maui with his lovely wife.

So if your thinking about visiting Maui to enjoy the wind there are a couple great places to rent homes or places to stay. Companies like Hookipa Haven or Windsurf West offer accommodations. Well that's how the song goes no work till Monday. As Realtor on Maui that isn't always the case.

Well I am not surfing today, but the surf is firing on Maui. Here is a photo of me from last year. This in Hawaii is called a board meeting. Tomorrow morning if the surf holds I will get out there early in the morning.

The Road from Haiku to Andaz Hotel in Wailea Maui

My home is in Haiku Maui and has been for years. When my wife an I first built our third home in Haiku with our growing family. We planted these 3ft Royal Palm trees. Fast forward over 20 years and you have 25ft Royal Palms. Well I receive a call from my friend at Tree Locators that they were in the need of eight mature Royal Palms and coconut trees. Well after 20 years of picking up after these giant trees I was ready to give them a new home. So you can see in this video that my trees are getting dug up, loaded and off to the new luxury hotel at The Andaz. It's pretty funny I was at the opening event at the Andaz for Realtors pre-viewing the hotel just recently. So when ever I am at this beautiful new luxury hotel, I will feel a part of myself and my family had a part in this luxury hotel.

Walking on the water with the Whales in Maui!

When I am talking about walking on water, it is not the experience that Peter had with Jesus. But in their day if they had stand up surfboards it might have been a form of transportation. Some of my clients and new good friends excepted my offer to a morning stand up paddle session in Makena Landing on Maui. On Maui we call this a board meeting. Sometimes it involves windsurfing, but today its a trip out to visit the whales. We had a crew of about six of us including my wife and we headed out about mile. It was a beautiful day in Makena Maui. We had been out for about half an hour and no sighting. Then we had an eye opener, a pod of whales showed up directly under us.

If you have seen the movie life of Pi where there is this giant whale that cruises under their boat and its an amazing moment. Well that was it. We were surrounded by a large pod of whales. I looked under my board and a hugh whale was swimming right under me, I had chicken skin, it was a magical moment.

My friend Tom took this picture, it was mind blowing having these hugh creatures swim right under us, they were every where. There fins glow in the clear blue water.

This is our friend Annie just taking the morning in slowly. We each looked at other in amazement just taking the experience in. As we headed back to shore whales were breaching every where, sun was out and everyone was happy and pleased with the morning. My clients purchased a home in Maui Meadows above Wailea from me a couple years ago. So we were off to their home for coffee, bagels and a dip in the pool. All in all it was a successful board meeting an a another great day on Maui.
