Here's your one minute housing market video update from RE/MAX for August 2017 using July 2017 housing data based on 54 metro areas around the country.
July 2017 was a strong month nationally with homes selling at a faster rate than any month in nearly a decade, despite a slight decrease in closed sales. As we entered the second half of the year, the U.S. housing market appeared to be on pace for another record year. Low inventory resulted in higher sales prices. Year-over-year, inventory has declined every month since November 2008 and the months supply of nventory hovered at 3.1 months, a new July low.

Charlotte, North Carolina has just been ranked as the 14th best city in which to live, by US News & World Report, moving up one notch from 15th place last year. U.S. News & World Report evaluates the 100 most populous metro areas against five criteria, ranking each one as to desirability, value, job market, strength, and quality of life. These five criteria come from public surveys of Americans who "vote" as to what's most important to them in making a move.

Additionally, the NAR existing home sales report showed that inventory has dropped year-over-year for the last 18 months, while the median price for all home sales in November was up 6.8% from last year and marked the 57th consecutive month of year-over-year gains for media sale prices.
How The Charlotte, North Carolina Housing Market Compared To National Averages (12 comments)
I know, I know... I'm beginning to sound like a broken record (remember records?)!!! As of the end of the third quarter 2012, Charlotte home inventory levels dropped to 4.6 months. That essentially puts us out of a buyer's market and very close to a seller's market.
I'm finding that Charlotte-area home buyers just don't want to believe this. We've seen small signs of this coming for months and I've been dropping hints to my clients all along--some listened and some didn't. It's time for Charlotte-area home buyers to get off the fence (especially now that many are also predicting an uptick (3 comments)
