First year in Real Estate - 06/30/08 03:32 PM
I had posted yesterday about how much the "average" realtor should earn their first year and of course I knew that would be different based upon how much time that you actually put into it - I appreciate all of the comments that I received - I know that as time goes on, that you definitely build your business and that it just takes time --- I had just heard from some realtors here in my town, that it would average between $5000 to $50,000 and so I was hoping for some other new realtors to comment if possible.  Thanks!

Well, I recently just celebrated my first year as a Realtor and I have heard so many different figures about what the "average" person should expect to earn their first year in real estate and of course I do know that it could be very different for everyone but could someone just give me some feedback on what your thoughts are on the subject - I have heard also that it takes about three years to really start to make enough to survive on --- any comments are welcome - thanks!

I have just finished reading from Zig Ziglar and I must say --- He is so motivating  - and of course I love everything that he teaches -- we always have to remain focused on our goals and to be positive and to stay away from all negativity --- it is not what happens to us but how we respond to what happens! Open Houses and Realtor Open Houses - 06/19/08 08:38 AM
Just writing today to get some feedback on doing "Open Houses" - I try to consistently do "Open Houses" and I have to say that I have been successful in getting new clients from doing this activity - but I have yet to do a "Realtor Open House" -- I know a lot of the realtors in our area do them quite often, but I do not see the benefit --- am I just missing something???

Working with out of town buyers - 06/18/08 11:55 AM
Well, it has been a few days since I have gotten to write anything here - so I guess what is on my mind today is "working with out of town buyers" --- I would appreciate any advice that you could offer to me!  I have several potential buyers and of course they automatically receive property listings that meet the criteria that they told me they were looking for --- How often should I call and talk with them without being the "pushy" realtor?

I love this active rain site --- of course, I already know that when you are a self employed person that it does take motivation to keep you going -- motivation does need to come from "within" -- I have always loved to listen to motivational tapes, cd's, but have never been much of a reader with books and such--- can anyone recommend some different websites or someone that may post a lot on here -- I may not be blogging the right way but it sure is fun!!!Thanks in advance for all of the info!

I am currently working with two people and we make an excellent team!  Just wondering if anyone can give any suggestions as to how to organize or delegate tasks to be done that would be helpful to us at this time --- we are all very new to this business and would like to learn all that we can -- this site has been so helpful to us and also wondering how we can be able to tap into the referrals - any advice will be greatly appreciated ---

I just joined the Active Rain a few days ago and love it!  I have only been in the real estate business for a year and I certainly have learned a lot thus far!!!  This site is great and I do have to limit the amount of time that I spend reading all of the great articles --- I feel as if I can claim my time online here as like "being in class" --- However, I know that experience is the best teacher so I am working with as many clients as I can, but I have realized that you … (4 comments)

Most all realtors have themselves a website, however they should be designed to help you attract buyers and sellers -- check mine out anytime --- www.normaelkins.com --- and I know that it has helped me to get a jump start in the real estate business ---

Working with buyers in a slow market - 06/07/08 04:04 AM
Being relatively "new" to the real estate business, I can see where buyers are always looking for the perfect deal -  they really do hear so much negative from the news media and sometimes it does get frustrating --- I always try to look for the positive in every situation and give my best to my clients ---I know that in every situation that when working with "buyers" that you have to just find their "need" and fill it ---
