market: The Farmer in the ... City? - 07/15/09 07:01 PM
You wouldn't think of an urban downtown as a likely location to meet a bunch of farmers, but 'tain't so in Albuquerque!
Every Saturday morning, from a bright-and-early 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Robinson Park right in Downtown Albuquerque is the site of the Albuquerque Downtown Growers' Market. (OK, I know that's mighty early to be up on a Saturday morning, but hey, if you want to meet real live farmers you'll need to get up with the chickens!)
This weekly, open-air market features 100% locally grown New Mexico produce-- to qualify, fruits and vegetables must have been grown within 60 … (2 comments)

market: Belen, NM Farmers Market - 09/10/08 04:50 PM
The small town of Belen, NM, half an hour south of Albuquerque, has a local Farmers Market every Friday afternoon and evening.

I love farmers' markets!

So last week I stopped by, and found some great, really fresh local produce, plus home-made jams and jellies, all-natural, locally made soaps, raw honey (completely local, of course!) and even roasted sweet corn, prepared fresh, on-site!

Buying local is the green and eco-friendly thing to do, and the offerings at the Belen Farmers' Market included lots of organic and all-natural options, making this an even "greener" option for local residents!

market: Albuquerque is Number 1! Forbes rates it the best bet for real estate investment! - 09/03/08 07:00 PM
I've been saying all year that we are SO lucky here in Albuquerque, NM, because our housing market has remained much stronger than the market in most of the rest of the country. Our home prices have remained pretty stable, and our foreclosure rate is much lower than in most other areas.
And it seems I'm not the only one noticing! Forbes magazine just published an article rating Albuquerque as the #1 Place Where Home Prices Are Likely to Rise!

Yep, they considered the entire country, and found Albuquerque the best bet for real estate investment!

market: List vs. Sales Prices: Loads of Unrealistic Sellers, at least around Albuquerque! - 06/11/07 11:19 PM
I've been doing a lot of showing in the past couple of weeks, and even some offer-writing. I'm getting a bit frustrated though, at the really strange market situation that's developed, at least in the rural areas surrounding Albuquerque.
With very few exceptions, all the active listings were priced well above the very highest sold comps, sometimes as much as 20% above the highest comparable property that has actually closed. (Let me here congratulate that minority of serious sellers whose homes are well-priced: it was such a pleasure showing your properties!)
Last year, and the year before that, this "overpricing" strategy worked … (13 comments)
