How many times have you  sat with a client and needed to tell them to reduce the clutter?  We all go to those homes and wonder why the owners need to fill every inch of space with something.  We know that buyers want to see open space.  We know that less is more.  It is our mantra, but do we know that about ourselves?  As sales and marketing people, we can talk, oh how we can talk.  Great stories, great information, we have it all.  Less is more, less talking and more silence, we do not need to fill every moment with … (3 comments)

Autumn is a great time to market a home.  Not so hot that customers would rather go to the beach than look for a home and not so cold or snowy that you would rather they didn't want to look for a home.  Even the most modest or somewhat unattractive homes look pretty with the different color leaves on the trees and on the lawn.  Leaves can covor a multitude of sins.  Nice to come into a warm home from a brisk outside.  Even if your client doesn't decorate for Autumn, hopefully their neighbors do.  I always loved showing houses in … (1 comments)

I am an avid gardener and I love the spring and summer on Long Island.  It's wonderful to have coffee in the yard on a summer morning and easy evening entertaining.  I am somewhat sad when the summer is over and it's time to put outside away.  I console myself with autumn and an evening fire and a glass of wine.  I got to thinking about the last year in real estate.  It was tough, as a broker owner I had to make some huge changes in advertising and major cuts in staff.  It was difficult to put the sellers market … (1 comments)
