I believe that an uninspired mind is a wasted mind. - 09/30/09 07:49 PM
I believe that an uninspired mind is a wasted mind. I also believe that the more you use your mind at any age, the sharper it will be. With Alzheimer's and other diseases that affect mental function at all time high, I believe it is more important than ever to give our mind a workout every day. Not doing so, encourages diseases to take over our minds.
It is also my belief that you must be active physically. You may be over weight as I am, but you can still have an active life style. I love to play Golf and … (9 comments)

Pretty simple to me. Both these idiots praised our president, that is not a good thing. We do not need to have these type of world leaders praising our leader. That may be a badge this administration wants, but the people of America don't like it.....

How many People actually think that President Obama is going to Denmark to get the Olympics for Chicago is a good thing?
I know one thing he would not be going unless it was a done deal already!Don't kid yourself, he ain't begging, he is bribing. This administration is in such desperate shape for some positive news, that buying the Olympics is a small price to pay for 15 minutes of fame.

How we got here..... - 09/28/09 10:20 PM
In 1944, a prominent petroleum geologist named Everette DeGolyer reported to the U.S. government that he was certain the Middle East nations were sitting atop at least 25 billion barrels of crude oil, at least 5 billion of which were in Saudi Arabia. Not reported at that time were his unofficial estimates of up to 300 billion barrels of oil-a third of which he thought underlay Saudi Arabia. In a report to the State Department, DeGolyer's team commented that "The oil in this region is the greatest single prize in all history."
At that time, the Middle East produced slightly less … (4 comments)

"I assume that any decision is a number of weeks away," Gibbs said. He said it can be detrimental to put resource decisions ahead of strategy decisions.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, speaking on CBS' "Face the Nation" Sunday, said McChrystal's assessment needs to be seen as part of a broader strategy.

Joe Wilson was Right!!!!! He must be punished.... - 09/20/09 07:47 PM
In the late 1970s, the State of Texas enacted legislation that denied a public school education to the children of illegal immigrants and denied state aid to municipalities that attempted to educate those children. Many illegal immigrants filed suit and all of the cases made their way to the Supreme Court. In a landmark ruling, that most lawyers know about, and that every professor of constitutional law knows about, called Plyler vs. Doe (1982), the Court ordered Texas to make the same education available to illegal immigrants as it does to citizens. In so doing, the Court held that: (a) the … (11 comments)

Will it or won't it? The $ 8000 tax credit is about to expire and the push is on to extend it past the end of November.
I think it was a great idea, but to extend it in its present form might not be the best idea. You see with loan qualifications at the tightest in our history, many people were not able to take advantage of the $8000.

The change the president asked Americans to believe in when he campaigned last fall somehow didn't include the $3.6 tn in new spending, the $787 bn stimulus plan, or a nearly $1 tn overhaul of health care.

The human body is the most complex thing in the universe by most estimates. Given that, it is apparent that you can't have a fixed way of looking at treatment. What works on me, won't work on you, so fluidity should be encouraged. Treatment should be administered by need and not by what's paid for by some plan.

White House green jobs adviser Van Jones resigned in the middle of the Labor Day weekend following persistent controversy over his past remarks and associations.
He issued back-to-back apologies -- first, for calling Republicans "assholes" during a videotaped address earlier in the year, and second for signing a petition in 2004 supporting the "9/11 truther" movement, which believes the Bush administration may have been involved in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

If either bush had appointed anyone as contraversial as this guy as a dog catcher, there would have been calls of racisum, hate mongering and so much more.

Any Questions? - 09/04/09 09:36 PM
This is private enterprise at work:
A brand new 747-400 runs about $260,000,000 (260 million). Some of the newer freighters are going for more than $300 million.
This is our Government at work:
A brand new F-22 Raptor costs 339 million without ammunition. A B-2 bomber costs 2.2 BILLION each.

The government wants to run our health care system!

Any Questions?
My son is in the Navy and I want the very best for him but even he has a problem with the price difference.
  Both Parties are to Blame.

When did it become a crisis? - 09/04/09 07:30 PM
When Obama Ran for president a few months ago, he promised these things in order to fix our health care syestem.
Now that he has been elected, it's a crisis that will destroy our country????

Require that health plans utilize disease management programs
"Require that plans that participate in the new public plan, Medicare or the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) utilize disease management programs to improve efficiency and lower costs."

Require providers to report measures of health care costs and quality
"Require hospitals and providers to collect and publicly report measures of health care costs and … (13 comments)

He went? - 09/04/09 04:12 PM
He went to the Doctor and they ask him to sign a paper saying he was entitled to privacy. He recognized 3 people while he was there, so how private was it, he wondered?
He went to the Airport and they ask him if anyone he DID NOT know had put anything in his bag? He wondered what? As he witnessed them, searching an 85 year old grandmother like she was a criminal.
He went online, to see if the car he wanted qualified for the Cash for Clunkers program. He was advised that by logging on, his computer was under … (11 comments)

You can add up the numbers - 09/02/09 08:52 PM

You can add up the numbers, over 57% goes to aid of some kind or mandatory spending. I wonder how much more we can handle in these categories. If you add health care at about 100 billion a year this pie chart and the percentages get pretty skewed. I just wonder, if we take our time and really look at everything, just how much we could have available for health care? Taking a hard look at costs and waste in every area might surprise us all.

This has been building for 20 years - 09/02/09 07:52 PM
The Congressional Budget Office estimated in December that a tax of 3 cents on every 12-ounce can of soda would raise $50 billion over 10 years. Not surprisingly, a soda tax is among the revenue streams being eyed as U.S. lawmakers tackle healthcare reform.
As they search for ways to boost federal revenues, Congressional number-crunchers are encouraging lawmakers to consider drastic changes to the tax benefits homeowners get from their mortgage interest payments. The Congressional Budget Office actually recommended changing the deduction to a flat 15% tax credit on the annual interest paid.
Automobile Dealers were promised a 10 day turn … (7 comments)

Running scared!! - 09/01/09 12:13 PM
Amazing is all I can say. One of the great agents in our Market Center was just telling me about a couple with 700 plus credit scores who are down sizing. They also have a great debt to income ratio. Guess what, 4 , count them 4 underwriters for FHA would not loan them money for fear that they may flip the home.
Isn't that just great, now they don't even want to make good loans! The kids move out and you want to downsize and act finically responsible and they come up with this game now.

This is not a good thing folks! - 09/01/09 10:22 AM
As they search for ways to boost federal revenues, Congressional number-crunchers are encouraging lawmakers to consider drastic changes to the tax benefits homeowners get from their mortgage interest payments.

Yes you heard me right, now they are coming after the home owner's interest deduction.
They complained that the "tax code treats investments in owner occupied housing more favorably than other investments."

The Congressional Budget Office actually recommended changing the deduction to a flat 15% tax credit on the annual interest paid.

Their second proposal puts a ceiling of $500,000 as the limit you can claim a deduction against. … (11 comments)
