business: How I enjoy the Holidays!! - 12/15/08 11:09 AM
Happy Holidays to each and everyone. Today I would like to share with a few things I do to get in that good ol Christmas spirit.
For years now I save one gift for Christmas eve. Just one and it's a special one. You see no mater how busy I am I can go to the mall on Christmas Eve morning and see the people raceing around and getting last minute things and it puts me in a spirit that is out of this world. I will sit on a bench and drink a soda and just watch. It really … (1 comments)

business: We can fix the economy OVERNITE!!! - 12/15/08 10:49 AM
We can fix the economy overnight!I bet you didn't know that the United States Federal Reserve processes over 476 BILLION dollars a day. Staggering isn't it? That's roughly 15 TRILLION dollars in one month or an even more stunning 180 TRILLION dollars in a year. I cannot even fathom that amount of money in my wildest dreams. Money literally flows through the Federal Reserve like a river after the snow melt in the mountains. Yet we have a massive deficit in this country and total chaos in the financial markets worldwide. Politicians cut taxes then raise taxes. Hell, in Bill Clinton's … (1 comments)

business: Put a value on YOU!!! - 12/15/08 10:41 AM
Thru life people or cicumstances will at times challange you at your very core. I learned a view years ago while going through one of those "hollywood" divorces that I had reached the point in my life where I had placed a value on me. At that very point I relized that I had the desire and need to be a better person and it was up to just one person; ME! Everyone at some point in their life has something that gives them a push or maybe a tug in one direction or another. Pay close attention you may be … (5 comments)

business: Focus on the other services you can offer your customers! - 12/08/08 09:35 PM
One thing that you as a business person should always focus on is other services or products that you can offer your customers. You see there are front end types of products that get you started or "introduced" to your customer. Well, "NOW WHAT?" Of course you will email them and talk to them but are there other services or products you could provide them with that you could profit on? This is called backend sales and can be more profitable than the first or "front end" sale in some cases. For example, on more than one occasion we have … (3 comments)

"It's always darkest right before it goes completely black."
                                                                           ~Terry Miller

Have you ever wondered how some people even survive with the attitude they poses? You know the type. They're the one that if they won the lottery, they would complain about the taxes. I will give you some advice about people like that. Run, I mean run away from them as fast and as far as you can. Negative people thrive on the destruction of other people. Your business life depends on you being ready and positive at all times not down and depressed. Never wish anyone … (0 comments)

business: If it's not fun, don't do it! - 12/08/08 09:32 PM
"If it's not fun, I'm not going to do it"
                                                                              ~Terry Miller
I am assuming that if your reading this you are in the real estate business and it's because that's what you chose to do. If I could give you one piece of advice it would be to figure out what your passion in life is and figure out how to succeed financially at it. I absolutely love having a real estate business and think motivating and training new Realtors is some of the most fun anyone can have. I feel rewarded everyday that I can help someone improve … (0 comments)

business: Run a for profit Business!! - 12/08/08 09:30 PM
The most important single central fact about a free market is that no exchange takes place unless both parties benefit.                                                                                                                   Milton Friedman

Did I mention that I run a "for profit" business? That's right, I like to make money and I like to make new friends (by the way, I also like to spend it but that's another story all together). That really makes the real estate business a nice fit for me. Somewhere along the way in this world "profit" became a dirty, politicized word and that's plain wrong. If you give a product or service at price or … (0 comments)

business: Sad but True!! A little fun goes a long way! - 12/08/08 09:26 PM
From Gary Varvel and really funny. Hey we all need a laugh sometime. We are all working hard and getting it done in today's market. We love a good joke. I recieved this and had to share it with everyone. Our Real Estate division is still doing business and looking to a great 2009. We grew this year, even with all the negative press, a huricane and an election. To tell the truth we planed to grow so we were ready for everything but Huricane Ike. Let's all look to a great 2009.

business: Do something to recharge yourself!! - 12/08/08 05:26 PM

Have you done anything for yourself recently that made you feel better? If so, good for you!  If not, then why? Every day you should give something to your health or the fun side of your personality. We all have vices and excuses why we can't but did you ever think that we could make an excuse for "why" you can do something? If you don't change the oil or maintain your car what would happen to it? That's right it wouldn't last very long. So how can the #1 tool ("you") in your business last if you don't maintain … (0 comments)

"Success is a state of mind. If you want success, start thinking of yourself as a success." - Dr. Joyce Brothers

I always want to stress that Real Estate can be as simple as you want it to be if we just focus on three things.

1.) "List It"
2.) "Sell It"
                          3.) "Service the Customer"

Everything else needs to be organized and then minimized so you can focus only on the three things that count the most. In the Real Estate industry it … (0 comments)

Quotes can give you a quick lift on an off day. Below are some of my favorites.

One who fears failure limits his activities. Failure is only the opportunity to more intelligently begin again.Henry Ford

business: Write your own obituary!! - 12/08/08 05:09 PM

Today I want to try an experiment with you. Assuming everyone who reads this is going to live several more years, what would your obituary in the local business page of the newspaper say the day you die? Think about it for just a minute. Would it say loving soul mate and father or maybe you are a great community leader. How many people could perform your eulogy, one, two, maybe three? Would your business competitors miss you and praise your ethics and practices? Would your businesses go on and be just as successful? I hate to use this word … (0 comments)

business: Thanks, You folks are great!!!!! - 12/08/08 10:57 AM
Good Morning, as most of you know I am new to blogging. I would like to thank all that comment on our blog. Man have I made some errors at times but readership keeps growing. You have no idea how much Denise and I appreciate all of the positive feedback you folks give. Also the constructive criticism on the correct way to do things. I had the pleasure the other night to spend some time on the phone with a gentleman from Stockton, California. It was great to see a new Realtor so full of life and thirsting for knowledge. During the … (0 comments)

business: It's all about Energy and Egos Folks! - 12/01/08 09:26 AM
It's all about Energy and Egos Folks
The year was 1992 and a group of ultra liberal Senators and Congressman Lead by the pompous Barney Frank decided everyone deserved a home.  So that very year they mandated that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac begin to loan money for housing to less qualified borrowers with higher debt to income ratios than ever before. Add to this both Fannie and Freddie agreed to take lower down payments from these less qualified borrowers. Lawrence B. Lindsey who was a member of the board of governors of the Federal Reserve stated in 1992 that … (3 comments)

Secrets to Staging a Home
When taking a listing, there are a few key things to share with your clients.  We all know to suggest candles for nice smells and to keep the home clean at all times but we must also remember to encourage our clients to de-clutter as much as possible.  It's a great time for them to take those old books down and pack them away for their upcoming move.  Once these type of items are packed away they can get those shelves dusted off!  Encouraging them to do this will help the home show better and also … (3 comments)

business: I can't see failure therefore I can't fail! - 12/01/08 09:21 AM
How Do You Wake Up?

I have a question for you. How do you wake up every morning? Are you a grouch? Or, are you happy and ready for a great day? You do know you have a choice, don't you? I choose to get up and welcome the day and you should too. You can do more business before 10:00 AM than you realize. So make a positive choice and you will beat the competition every time. If you make a positive choice every chance you get during the day you will continually beat the competition month in and … (1 comments)

business: A Goal is just a Dream with a deadline! - 12/01/08 09:10 AM
Good morning. Are you ready for great day? I know I am. Today I am going over my short term goals making sure they are tracking in the right direction toward my long term goals. Do you know what a goal really is? I have a simple definition I heard years ago. A goal is "A DREAM WITH A DEADLINE". Pretty good isn't it? I always thought so. I always start with the completed goal (dream) and work back to my present day. Then I set short term goals along the way to achieve the completed goal. To me it's like … (2 comments)

business: The law of a Garbage Truck! - 12/01/08 09:06 AM
The Garbage Truck Law

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport . We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his breaks, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly. So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This … (5 comments)

business: Change or Die in your Business! - 12/01/08 09:03 AM
Today is the First Day of the Rest of Your Life

Everyone has heard the expression "today is the first day of the rest of your life". We have all heard it time and time again and yet have any of us actually lived like it truly was the first day of the rest of our life. What are you doing today, right now; this second to ensure you will succeed the rest of your life? Ok you got me a little, I mean besides reading this. Are you helping with your son's or daughter's little league practice. Maybe you … (3 comments)

business: How committed are you to Real Estate? - 12/01/08 08:59 AM
How Committed Are You to Your Real Estate Business? How committed are you to your real estate business? Think for a few minutes and then say the answer out loud so you can hear it coming from your own lips. We have Realtors everyday saying that they are leaving and getting a "real job". Well maybe if they would have treated their business like a "real job" they would have succeeded in ways they had only dreamed. We at the Miller Team hear almost weekly that we are different from other Realtors. When we ask why? The answer is almost always, "you … (4 comments)
