Do you just exist or are you pushing yourself to succeed and achieve? Everyone at some time in their life feels like they are just existing or in other words they're in a rut. At times this can be comfortable and cozy but, is it really what you need? I know if everything is comfortable and cozy I am in trouble. My late father used to say "do something, even if you do it wrong". I generally live by the axiom that if it feels good and goes according to plan it's against company policy. What is the most important tool in your business? You might think it's your listing presentation or even your data base of customers. Both are right up there in terms of importance but they fall just a bit short of the most important. By now I hope you have figured it out but if not I will tell you. IT'S YOU!!! That's right it is you. I write and say this a lot but I can't stress enough how important "you" are to your success. I hope everyone remembers the deodorant commercial that said "never let them see you sweat". I personally loved it. In Real Estate you deal with more personalities than you could ever imagine or invent in your mind. Other agents are constantly trying to test you or get you out of your comfort zone, or in other words "make you sweat". But your sole focus should always be on your customer, not the ego on the other side of the table. It always amazes me that a large majority of REALTORS take personally negotiations. I had an interesting call last week. It was a REALTOR in a market that has had a dramatic "shift" and according to this individual was off by almost 40%. Short Sales and Foreclosures dominate the market and the attitude of the asset managers had gotten this guy down to the point, which I think he might have been looking for a bridge to do a Tinkerbelle off of. Before I go on, let me tell you he is OK and will be great very soon. So don't worry. A thirty minute call turned into two 1 hour plus calls. (2 comments)

Yes 2008 was an off year, but have you stopped to wonder, why some of our businesses grew and others in the same market didn't or failed altogether. I here it everyday, that so and so got a good break or that agent got lucky. Well folks here is my definition of lucky breaks or good luck: "LUCK IS WHERE HARD WORK AND PREPARATION COLLIDE!" There's an old saying that goes "the harder I work, the luckier I get." The ones that grew adapted. The ones that didn't stayed home and waited. You wait, you lose. It's that simple. I have a question for you. How do you wake up every morning? Are you a grouch? Or, are you happy and ready for a great day? You do know you have a choice, don't you? During the course of one of my very first training sessions we had a very nice lady who was new to the Real Estate business. After talking to her for a few minutes I began to realize that this was probably the most timid person I had ever met in my life. As most of you know I am a raging fool when I train. I love energy and I bounce all over the room and tell jokes and interact with everyone. But with this nice lady, I got nothing, zip, nada. Man, did ever feel like I let her down. (1 comments)

We work the same way every day and our customers know we are always available when they need us. We don't have any posted hours. If you want to do business with us we are available. We set goals and objectives and we achieve them by any means necessary. No excuses, just results. If someone cannot or will not produce, they don't last. Good morning. One thing a lot of business owners forget about is customer service. Today I would like to share with everyone something that happened to me several years ago when I lived in Fort Worth, Texas. Today I only carry Samsonite luggage and it all stems from the service I got from a young woman in the Denver service center. You see for years I carried a gray fold out type garment bag all over the world. I could literally pack everything I needed in that bag and a briefcase and take off. Do you get bogged down in details? How many times does a deal drag on and on and close late? Does it seem like no one has a sense of urgency or a work ethic that gets things done? Sound all too familiar? Well guess what? It's your fault! That's right; no one is to blame but you. You may say the lender or the title company was at fault. Have you done anything for yourself recently that made you feel better? If so, good for you! If not, then why? Every day you should give something to your health or the fun side of your personality. We all have vices and excuses why we can't but did you ever think that we could make an excuse for "why" you can do something? Everyone looks out for us and says; "don't or that will hurt", so you develop fears and worst of all hesitation. I have always tried to conquer anything I am afraid of. One thing I have witnessed and admired in all successful business people is the fact that fear of failure never enters their mind. They simply do not process fear in a way that most people do.
