current events: Back by demand. - 06/13/09 03:08 AM
"The regulatory issues in the 1990s will not be limited to safety and soundness, but will increasingly emphasize fairness: whether or not banks are fulfilling the needs of their communities."
Lawrence B. LindseyMember, Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Address to the California Bankers Association, May 11, 1992

In 1992, Congress mandated that Fannie and Freddie increase their purchases of mortgages for low-income and medium-income borrowers. Most importantly, Fannie Mae has agreed to buy more loans with very low down payments-or with mortgage payments that represent an unusually high percentage of a buyer's income. That's made banks willing to lend … (3 comments)

current events: Assume the position!! - 05/14/09 09:27 AM
Politicians say solutions aren't simple, but they really are. If you make something complicated you are almost always doing one of two things. You are either trying to hide or cover-up some previous mistake or malfeasance. Or you have something hidden in the solution for somebody else you want to pay back. Both are common in Washington as well as state government.  Do you realize that our Political leaders do things everyday that would get you and I fired in the real world "we" live in? A politicians vote is for sale on almost every bill that is introduced. This is … (2 comments)

current events: Quotes of the week. - 01/19/09 02:14 AM
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.Henry David Thoreau
All men dream but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes to make it possible.T.E. Lawrence

We have a fox terrier by the name of Jasper. He came to us in the summer of 2001 from the fox terrier rescue program. For those of you, who are unfamiliar with this type of adoption, imagine taking in a 10 year old child about whom you know nothing and committing to doing your best to be a good parent. Like a child, the dog came with his own idiosyncrasies. He will only sleep on the bed, on top of the … (3 comments)

current events: How do you Start the Day? Make the Right Choice! - 01/05/09 02:48 AM
I have a question for you. How do you wake up every morning? Are you a grouch? Or, are you happy and ready for a great day? You do know you have a choice, don't you? I choose to get up and welcome the day and you should to.  You can do more business before 10:00 AM than you realize.  So make a positive choice and you will beat the competition every time. If you make a positive choice every chance you get during the day you will continually beat the competition month in and month out.
 Always remember

current events: Predictions for the New Year! - 01/05/09 02:24 AM
As most of you know I write some political blogs or articles every now and then. One thing I am noticing when I am looking for material is the increase in folks in the media and such that preach so negative. Listen I for one could not get out of bed in the morning with the attitude that some of these folks exhibit.  So, I have posted my New Year's resolutions already. I called them my lies for the New Year. Now I am making some predictions for 2009 as it relates to business and our economy. Also, maybe some politics … (4 comments)

Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude. Thomas Jefferson

I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure--which is:Try to please everybody.Herbert Bayard Swope

current events: Hey, I'm not worried about a new President! - 12/28/08 04:05 PM
"It's easy to be liberal when you're either Rich or Poor, because the folks in the middle will always pay the bill!"~Terry MillerSome folks are concerned about the election of our new President. I'm not. Some of you know me and know I am very conservative when it comes to government. Keep in mind; I think Rush Limbaugh is liberal. That being said, President elect Obama has made some very interesting appointments and has already began putting some of the more militant of his constituents at arm's length. He has the appearance already of trying to unify some of the folks that … (0 comments)

current events: We can fix the economy OVERNITE!!! - 12/15/08 02:49 AM
We can fix the economy overnight!I bet you didn't know that the United States Federal Reserve processes over 476 BILLION dollars a day. Staggering isn't it? That's roughly 15 TRILLION dollars in one month or an even more stunning 180 TRILLION dollars in a year. I cannot even fathom that amount of money in my wildest dreams. Money literally flows through the Federal Reserve like a river after the snow melt in the mountains. Yet we have a massive deficit in this country and total chaos in the financial markets worldwide. Politicians cut taxes then raise taxes. Hell, in Bill Clinton's … (1 comments)
