"The website, recovery.gov, reported $26.5 million going to 10 New Mexico congressional districts that do not exist," the group reports. "Those millions were credited with creating 61.5 jobs." Additionally, $131,139 in funds reported for New Mexico were designated zip codes matching DuPont, Wash.; Richland, Wash.; and Gales Creek, Ore. While the recovery website shows $373,874 was spent in zip code 97052, the group found that zero jobs were created. Likewise, $100,000 to zip code 86705 resulted in no additional jobs, and $36,218 to zip code 87258 purportedly created five jobs. "None of these zip codes exist in New Mexico, or anywhere (19 comments)

The Obama administration's decision to crank up airport security for passengers traveling to the U.S. from 14 nations has triggered a backlash of complaints from Muslim and privacy groups who say President Obama's response to terror threats amounts to little more than racial profiling. But defenders of the policy say it's a carefully targeted way of zeroing in on those travelers most likely to pose a threat, and that hurt feelings shouldn't really matter after the United States narrowly averted, by sheer luck, a deadly midair bombing on an airliner heading to Detroit on Christmas Day.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, piqued with White House pressure to accept the Senate health reform bill, threw a rare rhetorical elbow Tuesday at President Barack Obama, questioning his commitment to his 2008 campaign promises.
A leadership aide said it was no accident.
Pelosi emerged from a meeting with her leadership team and committee chairs in the Capitol to face an aggressive throng of reporters who immediately hit her with C-SPAN's request that she permit closed-door final talks on the bill to be televised.

A Democratic senator from Nebraska who played a crucial role in getting health care legislation passed in the Senate last month has asked South Carolina's top attorney to "call off the dogs" -- a reference to the state official's threat to challenge the constitutionality of the bill. In a phone call Thursday, Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., urged South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster to reconsider, Politico reported.
Hey Ben, you made the deal now deal with the fall out. Amazingly cowardice of you to think you might walk away with no repercussions, after robbing a bank and getting caught.

Ben Bernanke has called for reform of financial regulation, arguing on Sunday that it was lapses in regulatory oversight rather than loose monetary policy that stoked the US housing bubble. The Federal Reserve chairman told the American Economic Association that exotic new mortgages and lending to borrowers who could not hope to repay their loans were chief causes of the sharp increase in home prices that ran from the late 1990s until 2006 and whose collapse hurt millions of Americans.

There's a hundred senators here. And I don't know if there's a senator that doesn't have something in this bill that was important to them. And if they don't have something in it important to them, then it doesn't speak well of them. That's what this legislation is all about. (Harry Reid, Dec. 21, 2009, Democratic press conference after cloture vote on health-care bill) Apparently, Sen. Reid sees the legislative process as an activity through which individual senators vie for taxpayer dollars to obtain results that are beneficial to them. If individual senators don't get something out of specific legislation, then (10 comments)

Ok, It's illegal, it's unconstitutional, it violates equal protection rules and laws. But I will sell my vote in the next election for 10 million Euros, or 18 million dollars, tax free. It's simple you pay it you get it. While I am not a Senator, you can still get my vote for a great deal. Yes it's immoral and self serving but hey I am just following the example our leaders have set. For an extra 3 Million tax free, I will relocate to a district of your choice and establish residence for one election cycle. I will of course (7 comments)

-- Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., won between $100 million and $300 million in additional federal aid for her state's Medicaid population. The deal, secured before she cast her critical vote in favor of bringing the health bill to the floor, was immediately dubbed the "Louisiana Purchase," though the actual Louisiana Purchase was considerably cheaper. -- Vermont and Massachusetts got $1.2 billion in Medicaid money -- a change that was described as a correction to the current system which exempts those two states because they have robust health care systems. In math class you must show your work. In English class you must show your source for the material. But in politics and environmental science you can throw out data that does not support your stance. Facts are facts and trillions and trillions are being spent and committed on false assertions. It is a political power grab plain and simple. The more they control what we do, the more they control their power. Folks, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it ain't a cow. http://agentrecruit.com http://kwtyler.com

America entered a new chapter in its history last evening. Under the cover of darkness and without a shoot being fired we had socialists successfully take over the House of Representatives. Our country is more divided than it ever has been. Our enemy has laid in wait for generations with patience and hatred for our country and last evening successfully over stepped its constitutional bounds in order to enslave a once proud country. Political correctness has allowed our enemies to walk and live freely among us, only to kill or destroy us when the timing is right. Last night was no (6 comments)

The White House distanced itself Wednesday from Democratic losses in two states, saying the races for governor hinged on local issues and were not a referendum on President Barack Obama. Still, exit polls showed more than four in 10 voters in Virginia said their view of Obama factored into their choice. Those voters roughly split between expressing support and opposition for the president. The Obama factor was similar in New Jersey, though there were slightly more voters who said the president did not factor into their choice. Obama had inserted himself into the races, campaigning for both Corzine and Deeds and (10 comments)

President Barack Obama's economic recovery program saved 935 jobs at the Southwest Georgia Community Action Council, an impressive success story for the stimulus plan. Trouble is, only 508 people work there. The Georgia nonprofit's inflated job count is among persisting errors in the government's latest effort to measure the effect of the $787 billion stimulus plan despite White House promises last week that the new data would undergo an "extensive review" to root out errors discovered in an earlier report. About two-thirds of the 14,506 jobs claimed to be saved under one federal office, the Administration for Children and Families at (14 comments)

Government investigators say the U.S. government is unlikely to recover all of its investment in General Motors or Chrysler because the companies' value would need to "grow substantially above what they have been in the past." A Government Accountability Office report released Monday is the latest review to cast doubt on the likelihood that taxpayers will fully recoup more than $80 billion invested in the two U.S. automakers. Treasury officials told the GAO that they are considering initial public offerings or private sales to dispose of the government's nearly 10 percent stake in Chrysler and 61 percent share of GM. Two large union locals in Kentucky and Ford's home city of Dearborn, Michigan, rejected the contract Friday, sealing its fate. Those unions together represent 13,000 Ford workers. Exact tallies weren't available, but at least 12 UAW locals representing about 27,500 workers so far have vetoed the deal, many overwhelmingly. Only about four locals with a total of 7,000 members favored the pact. Ford sought the deal to bring its labor costs in line with Detroit rivals Chrysler Group LLC and General Motors Co., both of which won concessions from the union as they headed into bankruptcy protection earlier this year. President Barack Obama is making a last-minute campaign appearance for New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine's re-election bid. Obama's scheduled to appear Sunday at a pair of rallies for the only incumbent governor seeking re-election. Just one of two governors' offices on the ballot for Tuesday's elections, the White House is aware Democratic losses would be spun as a referendum on Obama.
