What are you afraid of? Can I tell you a secret? We all have fears and phobias in life. As young babies we have no fear. Everyone looks out for us and says; "don't or that will hurt", so you develop fears and worst of all hesitation. I have always tried to conquer anything I am afraid of. One thing I have witnessed and admired in all successful business people is the fact that fear of failure never enters their mind. They simply do not process fear in a way that most people do. "If it's not fun, I'm not going to do it" ~Terry Miller I am assuming that if your reading this you are in the real estate business and it's because that's what you chose to do. If I could give you one piece of advice it would be to figure out what your passion in life is and figure out how to succeed financially at it. I absolutely love having a real estate business and think motivating and training new Realtors is some of the most fun anyone can have. You would never set out on a trip or a journey of any length without a map, plan or an itinerary of some kind, right? So, you can't change yourself from your very core without a map, plan or an itinerary either. This is not a theory, it is an irrevocable fact. To affect any kind of meaningful and healthy change in you, one must have a plan and refer to it often in order to stay on course. Henry Ford once said "distractions are what happen when you take your eyes off your goal". I think it is truly profound in its accuracy. Don't you? As a winner you will need to constantly make adjustments as your business grows and prospers. But never lose sight of the goal you have set for yourself. Remember to keep focused on the ultimate goal. It is amazing to me that when you keep your goals in site how the the little problems just go away.

When is the last time you got your hands dirty? I mean literally dirty? I had an occasion to witness something and carry the experience with me to this day. I did a transaction with an agent one time that had a buyer that loved rose bushes. Her closing gift was 3 very nice rose bushes. After closing when most agents are running to the bank to get the cash, this agent went to the couples new home and took out a pair of cotton gloves and a small hand spade as well as a bag of miracle grow potting soil. What is the most important tool in your business? You might think it's your listing presentation or even your data base of customers. Both are right up there in terms of importance but they fall just a bit short of the most important. By now I hope you have figured it out but if not I will tell you. IT'S YOU!!! That's right it is you. I write and say this a lot but I can't stress enough how important "you" are to your success. Have you ever wondered how some people even survive with the attitude they poses? You know the type. They're the one that if they won the lottery, they would complain about the taxes. I will give you some advice about people like that. Run, I mean run away from them as fast and as far as you can. Negative people thrive on the destruction of other people. One thing that you as a business person should always focus on is other services or products that you can offer your customers. You see there are front end types of products that get you started or "introduced" to your customer. Well, "NOW WHAT?" Of course you will email them and talk to them but are there other services or products you could provide them with that you could profit on? This is called backend sales and can be more profitable than the first or "front end" sale in some cases. For example, on more than one occasion we have (1 comments)

The idea for the vision board I created came from the book and the movie called "The Secret". If you haven't read or watched the Secret I recommend you do so at your earliest convenience, you owe it to yourself, trust me. The Secret helped me use more of my mind in a positive and constructive way. It encourages the positive visionary side of your personality. I have found some people who don't believe in the findings or training the secret encourages and you guessed it. They are generally negative and short sighted. You see I need total chaos in order to function in the business world. I like music and things coming at me fast. My beautiful wife Denise says I like working with my hair "on fire" and to be honest, she's right. My desk is always a wreck and I am always working two or three business deals at a time with the different businesses we own. If you add the passion you have to a purpose, all of a sudden you have an unbeatable combination for success. An example of this is the fact that I have a passion for recruiting, training and educating. The purpose of which is, to make as many people successful as possible. I had an interesting call last week. It was a REALTOR in a market that has had a dramatic "shift" and according to this individual was off by almost 40%. Short Sales and Foreclosures dominate the market and the attitude of the asset managers had gotten this guy down to the point, which I think he might have been looking for a bridge to do a Tinkerbelle off of. Before I go on, let me tell you he is OK and will be great very soon. So don't worry. A thirty minute call turned into two 1 hour plus calls. (4 comments)
