Well the Outer Banks has done it again this year with the beach at Cape Hatteras making Dr. Beaches Top 10 List of America's Best Beaches. It is no secret that the Outer Banks from Corolla to Ocracoke provide some of the most breathtaking and natural scenery anywhere on the east coast. North Carolina Senate Bans Plastic Bags On The Outer Banks - 05/15/09 09:31 AM
North Carolina State Senator and Outer Banks native Marc Basnight has successfully introduced legislation the ban all plastic bags from the big box stores on 3 coastal counties starting in September of this year. This trial program covers Dare, Currituck, Hyde counties and may be expanded to the rest of the state if all goes well. Senator Basnight hopes to reduce the amount of trash that blows around on the Outer Banks and help the environment due to the windy conditions that are prevalent all year long.I think it's a great idea and my family already uses cloth bags when we go shopping. With the summer season getting ready to kick off in a few short weeks I wanted to share a few of my favorite places to go out to eat on the Outer Banks.  Many of the restaurants on the Outer Banks are owned and operated by locals that only use fresh local seafood and vegetables. Mid-County Currituck Bridge Update - 05/01/09 01:25 PM
This week North Carolina state officials finally signed an agreement with the with private contractors hired to construct the Mid-County Currituck Bridge. I was a major step in the right direction to get the project underway. Scheduled construction for the bridge is for fall 2010 and completion by 2013. Many local residents and millions of tourists will be thrilled when the bridge is finally complete. It is estimated that those traveling to the northern Outer Banks towns of Duck, Corolla and the 4-wheel drive area will save as much as one to two hours off their trip.
