outerbanks: Outer Banks Real Estate Off To A Fast Start In 2009 - 03/03/09 02:13 PM
With two months in the books for 2009 it seems that the economic news in the country just keeps getting worse. However on the Outer Banks the real estate market just keeps getting better!! In February there were more houses put under contract since the fall selling peak of October 2008. That means that the buyers that started to show up in January are buying and the buying pace is still picking up. I predict March will be just as good if not better. The hot price range is still under $500,000. Out of the 120 houses sold this year 96

outerbanks: Outer Banks Real Estate-Goodbye to 2008 Hello to 2009 - 01/08/09 10:11 AM
2008-It's finally over!! I know for many of you, including myself, I could not wait for 2008 to be over. The stock market came crashing down, the real estate market continued it's downward spiral and the economy just tanked. All in all 2008 will go down as one of the worst years in recent memory As for the Outer Banks real estate market things went from bad in 2007 to worse in 2008. It seems that foreclosures and short sales were everywhere on the Outer Banks, listings stayed on the market longer, and buyers just disappeared. In 2008 according to

outerbanks: Jimmy Buffett Makes A Surprise Trip To The Outer Banks - 11/17/08 04:12 PM
It's a good thing no one knew before hand about the recent trip on November 11th, Jimmy Buffett made to Hatteras Island on the Outer Banks of North Carolina because there would have been Parrotheads, like myself all over the place. It seems the guys at Real Kiteboarding in Hatteras ran into Jimmy a few years ago over in the British Virgin Islands while surfing. They had no idea that he was coming when he pulled up in their parking lot in a vegetable powered conversion van. As the story goes Jimmy was taking some time off traveling up the east coast

outerbanks: Currituck Mid County Bridge Down To 3 Options - 10/24/08 09:46 AM
The North Carolina Turnpike Authority put out a press release this week about the 3 options they have decicded to go with for the proposed new bridge. The options include a "No Bridge" option that was just added recently. That's right they are now considering to not build the bridge and just do road improvements from the Wright Memorial Bridge all the way to Corolla. I can tell you that option is not going over well with the locals and local government. To read the article go to my blog at my website at www.HometownOBX.com or to the Mid-Currituck Bridge post directly. Also

outerbanks: Great Article On The Current Economic Crisis Today vs The Past - 10/02/08 10:47 AM
I came across a great article that explores the current economic crisis facing us today vs those that plagued our country years ago. The article compares past financial turmoils and how the media portrayed them at the time "end of the world". This article actually makes you sit back and think how much the media controls not only our lives but the financial markets as well. The underlying theme of the article is to stay the course with sound investment principals. While the article is geared towards the stock market the same rationale applies to real estate as well. outerbanks: Cape Hatteras ORV Beach Access Update - 09/08/08 03:39 PM
It looks like the negotiating committee for the ORV Beach Access Management Plan is getting back to the table this week. The 2 sides to the long battle over who will manage the Cape Hatteras National Seashore have once again decided that more talks are needed to try and come up with a solution to the current court mandated access plan. The meeting will held in Avon today and while most of the locals here on the Outer Banks pray that our local representatives can work their magic to get the current plan overturned, many are not that optimistic.
