real estate: Outer Banks To Get Wind Tower Project - 09/28/09 01:22 PM
No matter when you come to the Outer Banks there always seems to be a breeze blowing. Now Mother Nature is going to work when Duke Energy plans to install 3 test wind towers off the coast of Hatteras next year. The test towers will be monitored to see how effective and what impact they will have on generating "green" electricity. If the test proves to be successful a large scale wind farm will be built approximately 7 miles off the coast of Hatteras in the Pamlico Sound. For years the state had plans to try and harness the wind that continually blows on the Outer … (1 comments)

real estate: Outer Banks Real Estate Off To A Fast Start In 2009 - 03/03/09 02:13 PM
With two months in the books for 2009 it seems that the economic news in the country just keeps getting worse. However on the Outer Banks the real estate market just keeps getting better!!
In February there were more houses put under contract since the fall selling peak of October 2008. That means that the buyers that started to show up in January are buying and the buying pace is still picking up. I predict March will be just as good if not better.
The hot price range is still under $500,000. Out of the 120 houses sold this year 96 … (0 comments)

real estate: Outer Banks Real Estate-Goodbye to 2008 Hello to 2009 - 01/08/09 10:11 AM
2008-It's finally over!!
I know for many of you, including myself, I could not wait for 2008 to be over. The stock market came crashing down, the real estate market continued it's downward spiral and the economy just tanked. All in all 2008 will go down as one of the worst years in recent memory
As for the Outer Banks real estate market things went from bad in 2007 to worse in 2008. It seems that foreclosures and short sales were everywhere on the Outer Banks, listings stayed on the market longer, and buyers just disappeared.
 In 2008 according to … (3 comments)

real estate: Great Article On The Current Economic Crisis Today vs The Past - 10/02/08 10:47 AM
I came across a great article that explores the current economic crisis facing us today vs those that plagued our country years ago. The article compares past financial turmoils and how the media portrayed them at the time "end of the world". This article actually makes you sit back and think how much the media controls not only our lives but the financial markets as well. The underlying theme of the article is to stay the course with sound investment principals. While the article is geared towards the stock market the same rationale applies to real estate as well.
