service: Should a lender proactively update the listing agent?????? - 06/04/08 01:31 PM
I am utterly confused, maybe even bewildered. I work for a company, one of very few, that believes in proactively updating all sides of a transaction. Over the many years we have had this practice, I have never heard anything but praise from Realtors on both sides of the deal. Recently, while assisting one of her clients, a buyer's agent that I work with got upset about us (the lender) communicating to the listing agent. Even though it is the only compaint I have received I wanted to get some feedback from the ActiveRain community, because generally speaking... you guys ROCK!!

service: Who is the BOSS? You or your Client??? - 07/05/07 05:15 PM
Where do you draw the line between doing what your client asks and allowing them to make a bad decision? I have been running into this a lot lately where Realtors want their client to use me or someone they know, but the client brings their own lender into the deal. The Realtor feels this will lead to a bad experience, but does not say anything. I do it too. I have clients that want to use an insurance provider that will not communicate with us, and will charge them more money. I have providers that I know will save them time and money, but when they

service: Are you thinking about going with NEXTEL / SPRINT???? - 06/29/07 11:13 AM
DON'T DO IT!!! My partner and I have had a large account with them for many years. We have never really been happy with the service, but lately it went from bad to worse. After the companies marged our cell reception became so bad we just couldn't take it anymore. We decided to move some of our lines over to another carrier. Gary called Nextel and asked if we were past our contract dates and could move. They said yes. We moved the lines over to another carrier and have been ecstatic about the fantastic cell reception we get now! BUT THEN IT

service: Forget about GREAT service growing your business... - 06/25/07 06:55 PM
This is a follow up post for the first one I wrote on Activerain. I just received some new comments yesterday on it, and that got me thinking about what I have learned since then. #1. Great service is NOT enough to grow your business anymore! Wow, I know I am going to get blistered after this one, but hang with me. I am not saying that I do not believe in great service, nor am I saying great service isn't a must. I am simply saying it is not enough anymore to grow your business from start to finish. For our

service: Can you hear me NOW? - 05/25/07 10:52 AM
Give and Receive MORE from your current relationships Have you ever felt like the people you work the hardest for end up being the least grateful? Have you ever thought you had a "good thing going" only to see a relationship go south, and fast? I think we have all been there in our business and personal life. Now I am not going to try and say there is a magic cure for this. After all, people are still people! But I do believe that there is a common cause behind this that we should all think about... unclear communication. We all strive to

service: Blind Trust vs Unreasonable Skepticism (Part 2 of 2) - 03/26/07 06:11 PM
In my last Blog I wrote about clients that seem to fit into one of two categories. It seems like most clients are either Blindly Trusting and Unreasonably Skeptical of real estate and mortgage professionals. There must be a hppy median, and I think it is the "Informed Consumer". I believe that informed consumers are almost always a product of education from a professional. The problem is that most of us don't know how to educate, don't take the time, or haven't prepared simple materials that your average consumer will read. Below are some suggestions for Realtors and Lenders alike: Create a "Buyer" or

service: Buyer Agents... Do you know what you're doing? - 03/12/07 05:26 PM
OK, don't get mad at me because I mean this in a good way. I am not asking if you are competent. I am asking literally do you know WHAT you are doing? How many activities are you performing for your clients? I bet you do a lot more than you think! Below is a form I got from a real estate speaker recently with permission to distribute... WOW, you guys do a lot! I think you should all find a great lender that will help take some of the burden off of you. (ha ha, shameless plug... GO LENDERS!)
