The turnout for the first razor clam dig of the year in was a little low about 9,500 people worked the coastline near Ocean Shores. The surf was up so it was a little tough digging but most people were getting their limits and many still averaged 14 clams each. During the Dec. 2-3 storm, Damon Point State Park was transformed into Damon Island. Waves crashed over the narrow sandbar connecting the Ocean Shores peninsula with the accreted point, known locally as Protection Island.
