It never ceases to amaze me how some people think they can get business!
Consider an Affiliate in a membership.... she pays good money (or perhaps her company does) to belong to the membership, in order to bring in more business - this much is understandable, yet she chooses every opportunity to bad-mouth fellow members!
Go figure!
With each snippet of gossip that she comes across, this woman goes from one member to another, repeating stories about others, in an attempt to discredit them. This week it might be me, but you gotta know that you're going to be on her list some time, so next week it could be YOU!
For this reason, this woman is not particularly liked and although people appear to listen to her, they are quick to go back to the victim, to warn them.
Still, she attends meetings and smiles that sickly sweet smile, as though she hasn't just knifed someone in the back, behaving as though she is above reproach! The bad part about this is that it is cumulative! She does not stop bad mouthing one person, when she starts on the next one - it just gives her one more person to wage her war of attrition against and now, having belonged to this organization for several years, there are several people who are the targets of her poisonous ways.
No-one can be liked by everyone, not should they try, but organizations are professional places where we build rapport and behave ethically and professionally. The quickest way to kill one's business, is to spread gossip - the next biggest way to kill business is to try to discredit a fellow member, remembering that when we point a finger at someone else, there are THREE pointing right back at us.
It would seem to me that with each additional vendetta, this woman is whittling away at the number of clients that she may count on for business. Even those who are NOT on her hit list, view her very cautiously, as a person they'd rather stay away from.
Tip #1: NEVER repeat gossip.
Tip #2: If someone approaches you with gossip, be strong enough to tell them to STOP - you're not interested!
Tip #3: ALWAYS be a part of the team that BUILDS - not the side that destroys.
Tip #4: If someone is spreading malicious rumors, make the victim aware of it. Don't keep quiet because you think that their feelings will be hurt - it's going to hurt a whole lot more once the damage is done and they're going to find out sooner or later.
We really MUST pity those who involve themselves in this type of self destruction, because they clearly don't have enough business - if they had any business at all, they'd be too busy to involve themselves with such negativity and as we all know, negative thoughts beget negative results. The Universe gives us what we focus on and as long as we are focused on the destruction of others, we will ourselves be destroyed.
Rather focus on BUILDING others up and if done sincerely, the Universe will reward us by building US up!
There is much to be said for maintaining a positive attitude and positive thoughts and actions.
Happy selling!
