google: Google 411 adds new function and Bing 411 competes –Check them out! - 06/03/09 09:49 AM
Google recently added a new feature to their 411 service that tells you what intersection a business is on. Of course that’s really cool if you are on the go with a mobile phone and need directions. This feature is pretty cool and will hopefully lead more people to businesses easier than ever. Bing a new search engine from Microsoft just released their own 411 service to directly compete with Google’s. I have mixed feelings about Bing in general (I think it’s mostly useless when compared to Google but hey competition is good right?) but Bing seems to have some cool

google: Google unveils analytics for local business center - 06/03/09 09:41 AM
Google recently made the local business center a whole lot cooler and added a whole lot more functionality. All they did was put in some analytics and suddenly I realized how powerful local business center is. I took out my own stats because I know competitors are reading my blog but on a day to day basis I can see that literally hundreds of people are given an impression and a link to my site. That’s good news for me. I think a lot of people fail to see how important analytics can be for their websites. Some people dismiss this

google: Google might drop Beta name on Gmail and a few other products - 05/28/09 10:22 AM
The other day I saw Google is talking more about dropping the Beta off Gmail and a few other products. Speculation is that this is just to seek out enterprise users and not scare them off with the Beta label. What it means for you and me is probably not much because this does not necessarily come with any fixes or additions. Although they very well might drop the Beta name and add a few more details along the way. Looking for Eau Claire Homes For Sale? Check out my Eau Claire Real Estate Agent Website! google: Google lends a helping hand to bloggers and beginner webmasters with even more widgets! - 05/27/09 02:50 PM
Today Google announced a bunch of neato toys for your blog or website. The list goes on but some of the really cool ones are: An interesting map widget (yes you could embed maps before but this is different) Google search (this wasn’t as easy to add before to a site as you might think) Conversation (yes as the name implies you can chat on your site and other things tres cool of course!) Calendar (again you could do this before but much easier now) News (was easy with a rss feed and a few other tricks but again easier now)

google: Google Chrome just got faster but still lacks features—what’s a browser to do? - 05/22/09 09:27 AM
Google Announces Chrome Release is Even Faster There’s a big fight going on right now to be the fastest browser but the inevitable happens; Speed means less features. Sorry but that’s just how it is right now. I guess that’s still no excuse for Internet Explorer whose latest offering seems so completely full of bugs I am still wondering why they released it. Anyways I remember reading an article a while back talking about browsers. The gist of the argument was that the reason people loved Firefox is that it was so fast. Then it added more features and everyone loved

google: Google Founders on Real Time Search – Be more like Twitter? - 05/19/09 01:04 PM
I just saw this article over at Tech Crunch. I know everyone is getting sick of Twitter and Google but Google has been making so many new changes to its search engine that I really feel it’s just a matter of time before something even bigger happens. Today in an interview they were asked more about real time search. Everyone wants to know how or when they will become more like Twitter. It’s interesting to see Larry Page talk more about indexing pages in real time. Of course this will be incredible because if you think about it your site becomes

google: Google Overhauls Webmaster Tools - 05/18/09 11:33 AM
If you are an SEO nut or for whatever reason you just love Google webmaster tools you might have noticed they are offering up a new look as well as some new functionality. If you open up webmaster tools and then look at the top you will see something that says check out our new look. As far as changes go these are the ones that I noticed so far: If you go to the links section it now says anchor text for links incoming to your site where before it said this is what Googlebot sees. Now I

google: I Just Can’t Wait for Google Voice - 05/09/09 08:07 PM
The more I keep hearing about this service the more I want it now. I want it so bad I can taste it. First of all if you manage multiple phone lines this completely eliminates the hassle of having multiple phone numbers. If that’s not enough for you then voice mail transcription service should do the trick. Seriously think about how much time it takes to call your number, hit the same stupid combination of buttons each time, then wait… wait some more, hope it hsant been disconnected at this point, wait patiently for the 3 minute long message saying please

google: http://www.google.com/contacts - 05/06/09 08:59 AM
I believe yesterday Google rolled out a new feature that has a world of promise and yet seems so insignificant on the surface; Google Contacts. There has been this feature built into Gmail that lets you import your contacts from Outlook and well that’s about all it did. Now Google has decided to separate the two so that Contacts is its own entity. This also has some other interesting social networking aspects or at least it will in the future. Your contact list will soon become your social circle as more and more people adopt Google services and applications. The

google: Google Latitude – Put Your Butt on a Google Map and Blog Your Location - 05/05/09 01:09 PM
I don't think I am ready for everyone in the world knowing where I am at any given moment. In fact I think that's the last thing I would want. But everyone in the world knowing where they can get real estate services in Eau Claire Wisconsin is definitely something I want. So I guess location services such as Google Latitude might seem like the devil but might actually be something quite useful for getting your butt on the map so to speak. I keep telling people about this kind of stuff because I think somehow I can envision where the

google: Google Books - 05/02/09 11:16 PM
There has been a lot of fuss about Google scanning every text known to mankind and trying to get them indexed. Good, bad or just plain ugly it doesn’t seem like there is going to be anything stopping Google from achieving its goals of indexing the world. (Yes I mean that literally) In the meantime maybe we can take a look at its death rays for a moment errr I mean its scanner. You can check out the story here. Looking for Eau Claire Homes For Sale? google: Your Google Profile as Your Business Card? - 05/02/09 09:28 PM
I know Missy Caulk recently talked about how Iprint.com was giving away business cards. If you missed that and want free ones it might not be too late. I have a feeling they are giving away more than just the 10,000 that they said they were. Not sure what I am talking about? Check out this post here or check out this story over at Tech Crunch. I also wrote a post here that I thought was a good way of setting this up. Go ahead and see if you can still order. But for a moment let’s really think about

google: Major Google News: Google Voice –What is it? - 03/12/09 10:44 AM
Looking for Eau Claire Homes For Sale? You might not have ever heard of Google Voice because for almost the last 2 years Google has been mostly silent about its development but this is perhaps one of the biggest new applications that they have announced in many years. In fact it could be one of the biggest ones ever next to Gmail. What is it exactly? Well it’s like having a universal phone number, like how Gmail was meant as a way to centralize all your email accounts and make it a one stop email app; Google voice has

google: Google and You: New “Standard” to Clean up Nasty URLS—Nothing to do With Blogging - 02/13/09 02:14 PM
Well if you are subscribed to Google Webmaster Central then you already got this email and this is old news but if you don’t then this is news to you! What they did was try to come up with an easier way to clean up Nasty URLS created by some CMS’s (Content Management System) such as Word Press or Joomla! If you don’t use a CMS for your website then this probably has absolutely nothing to do with you. But if you do use a CMS then you are probably aware that by default they create some rather nasty looking

google: Google Does it Again! PowerMeter Smart Grid - 02/11/09 09:59 AM
There has been a lot of talk lately about Smart Grids and what they can do for us and the planet. Never heard of it? Just click on the link to learn more. The goal is to reduce the consumption of electricity which is good for everyone and at the same time try to move higher consumption times to off-peak hours which is also good for everyone. That sounds like a tough order and that’s why technology can help and a smarter grid can do it. Your appliances will start talking to the grid and hopefully we can start

google: Spice up Your Site With Google News--Free - 02/04/09 08:17 PM
Google recently released a wizard that’s quite easy to use that lets you add Google News to any website for free. It’s basically an I-Frame I believe but it’s quite functional. The best part is that you can set a filter for particular news stories. For instance, you can set the filter for “Real Estate” and then select which news sections you want the news from, for example, Business or National news. I think I might add it to my site because it would be great for picking out relevant content for a Real Estate site or any site for

google: Google News: Google Latitude Coming to a Mobile Phone Near You - 02/04/09 10:20 AM
Eau Claire Wisconsin Real Estate If you have a mobile phone, Google Maps, and GPS now you can use a neato new feature called Google Latitude. Basically what it does is lets other people know your location and puts a point on the map. This might be useful in a variety of ways if you put your thinking cap on for a moment. I saw another story saying this would be a great way to spy on your kids but I don’t think anyone needs to be spying on anyone. Either way this could be a rather useful tool.
