troubleshooting: Help !! My Computer is out of Control !! ... the continuing saga - 08/06/08 08:40 AM

My computer is slow probably the most overlooked reason...
Have you defragged lately? Do you even know what this is? Do you even have a program running that does this?
Answer: probably not.
I dont want to go into a lengthy tech summary of what fragmented files, fragmentation and what defragmentation actually does. You can go here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defragmentation for that. What you need to understand is that this is something that is not taken care of by default. If you are not manually setting this to be defragmenting your drive(s) it just builds up and gets worse and worse and worse.. … (8 comments)

Does this sound like your computer? A computer is "supposed" to do what you tell it to do, but often times it seems like it does what it wants to do. Here is some quick advice on how to get your computer back under the reins.

1. Never, ever, ever, ever, install anything that is a toolbar or anything that will "speed up" your computer. You don't want or need these things. In fact the more programs you install the slower your computer will go.
2. Do not use anything that says "registry cleaner" or registry speed up. Your registry is very complicated … (2 comments)
