Life is complicated. When we are young we have no idea of the responsibilities we will have as we grow older. The decisions we make will no longer be what we want but what the family needs. And with that I have had to make another change in my life. Due to my family situation I have decided that it would be best for my family to be working out of an office closer to home therefore it is with deep regret that I have decided to leave Ogunquit Sunrise Properties. I am now associated with Prudential Verani Realty. Fortunately for me it is a wonderful opportunity to grow. I am now licensed in Mass, NH and Maine. I will now be able to assist all the customers and clients in the future who need assistance on both ends. Its an exciting time and I am very excited about this opportunity.

My son has fully recovered from his accident and he is moving forward in putting his life back in order.

My wife has joined me working at Prudential and we will be working as a team.

Managing family life/disaster

Unfortunately this week my son was involved in an automobile accident and was hurt but will recover fully. Staples in his head to sticth together a 4" gash, brused legs,arms and most everything else. We were very lucky that everyone walked away from the accident. Over the past week I have had to deal with the insurance company, autobody shop, other parents, health isurance company, police department, towing company. My son had installed many aftermarket parts on the car which needed to be removed in case they total the car so I played mechanic for several hours. And through all this I new I could count on my office to cover my listings and be there to assist me in any way I needed help. So thank you all at Ogunquit Sunrise Properties.

With the popularity of Ogunquit vacations increasing and the homes maintaining their value the interest in timeshares in Ogunquit has increased. With the high costs of spending one week in Ogunquit in hotels or property rentals many vacationers are finding that timeshares are an inexpensive way to vacation here. With maintenance costs around $500 dollars per week for a 2 bedroom 2 bath timeshare it has become cost effective to purchase timeshare. Another wonderful guest called to make a reservation that was very concerned about the quality of the rooms. She did not trust pictures, having been burnt before by deceptive Innkeepers. Well I convinced her she would be more than happy or I would give her a nights stay and refund all her money if she was not pleased with our inn. Well summer arrived and I was out front dead heading my flower gardens when a nice women came up the roadway smoking like a chimney and crying(my nervous guest). I asked if everything was ok and she said they were to check in and they did not like the location of the Inn. Well I told her that there is nothing I can do about the location and that All I can do is provide the best rooms in town. Her freind that was going to stay with her loved the location. So I told them that if they weren't happy with the room I would find something closer to the beach that might be more to their liking. Well they had reserved the log cabin room which concerned me. It was our smallest room but one that our repeat guests often requested. When they saw the room they were overjoyed with the decor and cleanliness. They had a wonderful time in our town and I often think about how they were crying when they left just like when they arrived. They were tears "they told us" that they had to leave the most wonderful Inn they had ever stayed at and that they were sad that it would be another year before they have the chance to see their new friends the Martins. I do miss them too.

And then there are the wonderful customers. On one occasion we had a couple stay with us from Canada. The husband could not speak a word of English and his wife was from the Philipines. She spoke some English and did the translating for the husband. They new I went for a 6 mile walk everyday at 4:00am and watched the sun rise. So the wife asked If I would mind if the husband joined me one morning. I was excited to have him walk with me and as I told them you never know what you will see.

Well the next morning sure enough the husband was outside waiting for me in his brand new sneakers he purchased at the Kittery outlets. We started out heading to Footbridge Beach to catch the sun rise and as we turned onto Riverbank a Fox ran across the road almost running into us. I'm not sure what my guest said but he sure seemed to enjoy the experience. We continued down to the footbridge and crossed over to the beach. We continued down the beach heading towards the Norseman when we sat to wait for the sunrise. Apparently my guest had never wacthed a sunrise at the beach before and fortunately this one was fantastic, better than usual. He was actually clapping and cheering as the sun peaked over the horizon. It was like watching my son on christmas day looking at the gifts, wide eyed and in awe. Well we continued on and as we did he would continue to point at what peaked his interest and I would try to explain. Of course it was useless, he had no idea what I was saying. We continued to Marginal way and about mid point we turned the corner and to our surprise there was a sunrise wedding taking place on the cliffs overlooking the water. We stopped and watched and at the conclusion of the ceremony everyone clapped and cheered. It was really a beautiful moment for me as well as my guest. We made our way to shore road and headed back to the inn just in time for me to do the breakfast. About 11:00 I watched my new Canadian Guest limp out his door all the way to the patio furniture. I asked what had happened and his wife told me his new sneakers did not fit well and he had blisters the size of silver dollars on both feet.

That night after he returned from the York Hospital we proceeded to have one to many glasses of wine and we laughed all night long. I will treasure that day forever. It was truly an experience to remember considering it was all done without understanding one word the other said.

So Here we are in Ogunquit with a wonderful new business, and most important a son who is thrilled to be here. Can you imagine a 15yr old boy wanting to give up his home town and all his friends to live in Ogunquit. Ah there is the catch, he didn't give up his friends. Now it was like I had many sons because although they were an hour away we had promised they could come up any time. AND THEY DID. Our typical summer weekend we had 10 guests who paid for staying wiith us and 2 or 3 of my son's freinds spread out sleeping on my sons floor. These friends of his became a wonderful part of our family and I hope they will have fond memories of all we did together.

From the time I was a little child I can remember visiting this wonderful place called Ogunquit. As the years went by it went from playing on the beach to surfing to enjoying the restaraunts and bars and now the beauty of relaxing on Marginal way with a glass of wine or cold beer at the end of a busy day. Over time my family found it more difficult every time we had to leave for home. So after the family voted it was decided to make the move to Ogunquit so we would never have to leave again. It was the best decision we evermade as a family. We purchased a little Bed and Breakfast behind the EGG and EYE and started our new adventure. It was a dream that did come true for the 3 of us. My son would attend Wells High school and work at the Ogunquit Lobster pound and my wife and I would run the B&B.
