NY Times Article: One City's Home Sellers Do Better on Their Own - 06/28/07 11:35 AM
According to this recent article in NY Times, FSBO home sellers did better than Realtors in Madison, Wisconsin. I am not a realtor but this article caught my because of the debates I see on AR about discount brokers and FSBO listings. The article goes into a bit of detail on the issues of going FSBO and the fact that the FSBO in Madison is ahead of most other cities. Their is also a discussion about the fact that realtors were able to sell the home in an average of 105 days as opposed to the 125 it took FSBO sellers. … (3 comments)

What the Heck is Link Bait? - 06/27/07 11:35 AM
There seems to be some confusion about what link bait is. Some seem to think of it as a negative or shady way of obtaining readers to your blogs. In reality link bait is a perfectly legitimate way to get visitors and links to your blog or website. It has nothing to do with tricking users to get them to your site. Link bait is simply creating fun, useful, interesting, and sometimes controversial content or tools that compel others to visit and link to your site. The bait is the content or tool and if it is good enough it will … (1 comments)

NJ Star Ledger Report on Increase in Mortgage Fraud in NJ - 06/18/07 01:26 PM
The Sunday Star Ledger had a good article on the huge increase in mortgage fraud in NJ. While NJ may not have the most mortgage fraud cases it has seen the largest increase, over 200% in the last year. This is something that affects everyone in the real estate industry. Many criminals now see mortgage fraud schemes as a way to make easy money. The increase in mortgage fraud is a huge problem across the country especially in states with high property values, like New Jersey.
The article was an eye opener for me. Not because I was unaware of the increase … (2 comments)

Vanessa Fox Nude Joins Zillow - 06/15/07 07:34 AM
Now that I have your attention, Vanessa Fox has announced that she is leaving Google and taking over as Product Team lead at Zillow.com. Vanessa was the product manager for Google's Webmaster Central. Matt Cutts and Danny Sullivan's Search Engine Land both have some more information about it.
It will be interesting to see what Vanessa comes up with for Zillow. I attended some of the sessions that she headed at SES conferences and regularly visited her blog, Vanessafoxnude.com (Don't worry, it is totally G rated). She brought a lot to Google and helped turn Webmaster Central into the great platform that … (5 comments)

Source of Title Blog Responds to Poizner - 06/11/07 08:33 AM
Steve Poizner, the insurance commissioner for the California Department of Insurance, recently stated that "the title industry is broken." In many respects he is correct and I, for one, agree with many of his recommendations. Especially the idea that title insurance companies need to change themselves. He wants to offer title insurers a chance to clean themselves up before creating more regulations. IMO this is the way to go and let's hope that the title companies in California get the message.
Roberto Franco at the Source of Title Blog has a new post discussing some if his ideas. I agree with … (20 comments)

Ask.com Launches Major Updates - 06/05/07 10:01 AM
I just got my latest newsletter from Search Engine Watch and it discusses a new update to Ask.com that looks fairly interesting. Ask.com is making their SERP much more robust. They are calling it Ask3D and I like the way they are displaying the different steps of the search on the results pages. Users are given additional options to drill down to more relevant searches and get more information right on the results page instead of doing additional searches.
Ask.com has really been pushing out the innovation in the way they display results and I really like it but they really need … (4 comments)
