beaverton: Going, Going, Gone - 05/08/09 01:32 PM
The homewoners of this home had to move out of state and left many dated pieces of furniture behind.  The home had been recently updated but was a white box inside.  We had to use the left over items, as the owners were on a budget due to moving costs.  By adding color, some transitional/contemporary items to the home, the dated, very traditional items were updated simply by paring them with updated furnishings.

beaverton: Biting the hands that feed you. - 04/22/09 12:42 AM
I recently went to a job and met with a homeowner who was obviously stressed and unhappy.  His wife was halfway across the country and he was left behind to pack up the remaining furniture that would fit into one single moving truck.  It would not all fit, so many things would be left behind.  Now, the remaining items were not the most up to date, and would have a negative effect on showings. I sensed frustration and a bit of anger from him.  His agent told him that the property would need to be staged.  He met with two previous stagers before … (5 comments)

beaverton: OK Staging Non-Believers..My RANT!!! Re-Post - 04/06/09 01:42 PM
OK... We alll know the market has tanked... Buyers still have the same desire to buy a great home.  If you are not staging or using redesign services, your listing will rot on the market.  Buyers are in control today.  They want a move-in ready home.  If your listing needs any type of paint, they will look at the next property on their list.  YOUR PROPERTY NEEDS TO LOOK FABULOUS.. beaverton: Things are improving - 04/02/09 03:23 PM
Finally..  Things are starting to improve little by little.  The phone is ringing again, appointments are up and the all important setting of a property is up.  We currently have about 48 properties going and are getting many new agents.  I think that the "staging mantra" is finally starting to work.  I still see many scary properties on the market, and I almost become jaded.  I do not understand how agents do not guide their clients to staging/or a redesign consultation.  For the most part, the home is the largest asset you have, and as we all know, you only get … (2 comments)

beaverton: Is the client really importlant? - 04/01/09 01:21 PM
So, I just finished a job with a client that was a dream.  She fully understood the concept of staging, didn't balk about the price and let me have fun!  I have found over and over again and I am sure many stagers have too that when a client gives you full rein witha  project, it will turn out to benefit objectives: 1.  To showcase the property to it's fullest potential, 2. Make the client happy and 3. Give you a sense of accomplishment and great photos to later market yourself.  A bad client can make all of the above much … (4 comments)
