downtown oakville: Window Shopping In Downtown Oakville - Me, My Dog & My Camera - 12/15/10 03:24 PM
It's that time of year again. The windows of downtown Oakville's shops and boutiques are decorated in anticipation of shoppers on the hunt for that perfect holiday gift for their loved ones (or maybe even themselves). As my dog Lola gave me "the look" last night I decided that instead of just walking the neighbourhood we would head downtown and take photos of the decorated store windows. Oakville has a very vibrant downtown core with lots of unique boutiques and great restaurants. Many of the stores have gone to great length to fill their windows with glitz and glam and others

downtown oakville: Oakville Ontario - Signs Of Spring - 04/24/10 12:14 AM
Spring is in the air in Oakville. It is also in the forests, on the trails and gracing Oakville's streets and yards. Everywhere you go you see and smell sweet blossoms, fresh new leaves, and spring flowers such as tulips, daffodils and trilliums. There is no better time than now to get out and enjoy these early spring blossoms before they are gone. The magnolia trees are in full bloom and for such a sweet short time. This is April. Aren't we supposed to be getting the April showers before we get the May flowers? No rain to speak of this month but

Neighbourhood Watch - Oakville Ontario - Old Oakville When you mention the words Old Oakville, it conjures up thoughts of heritage homes, a vibrant downtown core, rich history, Lake Ontario and the 16 Mile Creek and harbour. This area closest to the downtown boutiques, restaurants and coffee shops is one of the most sought after for high end real estate. Stately homes on large lots are mixed with small quaint cottage style homes. Luxury townhomes are popping up as infill projects. You pay the price to walk to town and the lake. This is not a haven for starter homes,

downtown oakville: It's Almost March But Winter Has Arrived - Oakville Is Now SN'Oakville - 02/26/10 10:52 PM
It was bound to happen sooner or later. Winter that is. I mean the calendar said it officially began on December 21st. In three weeks spring will have sprung. This afternoon's rain turned to snow as soon as the temperature dipped below the freezing mark. Tonight the trees are sagging under the weight of the white stuff and there is some serious driveway shovelling going on. I had to show a house this afternoon so my son chauferred me due to my broken ankle and afterwards I asked him to take me to the harbour so I could take a few

downtown oakville: Take Me Home - To Oakville, Ontario - 01/07/10 11:01 PM
I've done my share of promoting the Town of Oakville with my past blogs and photos. I happened to find this video on Youtube that I thought I would share. Oakville Mayor Rob Burton narrates this short snapshot of our beautiful and vibrant town. I find it very easy to promote Oakville's virtues to out of town clients. Leafy neighbourhoods, quality schools and a charming downtown core are just a few reasons to call Oakville home.

downtown oakville: Out With The Old - In With The New - Year That Is - But What Say You? - 12/31/09 05:27 PM
Okay I know tomorrow is 2010 but I'm not quite sure how to pronounce it. Do I say two thousand and ten or just two thousand ten, or twenty ten? Which is the politically correct way? Or better yet, which way do teachers teach their students? Or does it REALLY matter? How did you say 2009? I started saying it to myself today to see how it spilled out. Two thousand nine. Two thousand and nine. I had no clue which way I had been pronouncing the outgoing year. I tried to think how many times I might have even spoken the

downtown oakville: Window Shopping In Oakville Ontario - 12/20/09 11:12 PM
Oakville's downtown shops and boutiques are full of wonderful gifts to surprise your loved ones with this holiday season. Many of the shops will gift wrap your purchases in a way that I could never duplicate. At this time of year there is nothing more enjoyable than to stroll down Lakeshore Road on a cold, frosty evening and gaze into the brightly lit storefront windows. These magic Christmas displays offer a wonderful photo opportunity. Although my hands were frozen by the time I got my fill of festive fotos, I finished up my Friday evening outing with a frothy, foamy

downtown oakville: Good Friday In Downtown Oakville, Ontario - It Was HOPPING! - 04/10/09 08:34 PM
It was a relatively balmy 48 degrees F ( 9 celsius) in Oakville today. The sun was shining bright so it was a great opportunity for my friend an I to take our dogs for a walk downtown and by the Lake (Ontario). It seems we weren't the only ones who had the same idea. Lakeshore Road was full of people, dogs, strollers, cars, bicycles and motorcycles. People were feeding the ducks and geese at the harbour. Bad idea as the Canada Geese end up staying here for the winters now and making lovely messes in our parks. My dog just loves to
