georgian bay: Happy Thanksgiving Canada - Autumn's Bountiful Harvest - 10/11/10 10:51 PM
As the Canadian Thanksgiving holiday weekend comes to a close, I'm sure I speak for many who enjoyed time with family and friends.  I'm sure I am not alone in having indulged in too much of everything good. 
Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, turnip,  pumpkin pie and much more weighed down the table for our Thanksgiving feast.  The weather co-operated and it was a wonderful weekend to enjoy the autumn colours from our last pontoon boat ride for the season on the lake.
Everyone at the table took a turn to express what they are thankful for.  Family, friends, good health, good food … (19 comments)

georgian bay: If The Snow Won't Come To You - Go To The Snow - 01/03/10 10:01 PM
The New Year has arrived and Christmas 2009 has become a not quite faded  memory.  With no snow in sight for Christmas here in Oakville,  our family decided to head north to Parry Sound, Ontario to find some white stuff.
We weren't disappointed as there was lots of snow to be found.  On Christmas day though, the rain came.  The temperature rose above the freezing mark and the snow disappeared from the surface of Otter Lake, exposing the smooth ice.
As you can see by the photo below Santa did find us, and an enjoyable Christmas holiday was enjoyed by all.

georgian bay: The Saturday before the Saturday before Fall - 09/12/09 10:52 PM
Yes, there is only 1 Saturday left after today before fall or autumn officially arrives on September 22, 2009.  Where did the summer go?  Here in Oakville, it seems summer just began at the end of August.  We have had an amazing first two weeks in September.  Sunny and dry.  Yes dry, when baseball and soccer season here in Oakville has finished or is winding down.
It was one of those seasons when even the rained out games got rained out.  Labour Day weekend has come and gone.  Cottage country has gone quiet.  Here is a glimpse of how cottage country … (18 comments)
