jenny kotulak oakville: Tim Hortons Scores Big With Sid The Kid Commercial - 03/09/10 12:20 PM
I'm sure when this Tim Hortons coffee commercial was filmed prior to the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, there was no notion that Sidney Crosby would become a National hero for scoring the winning goal for Canada's Olympic men's hockey team.  That overtime goal against an outstanding U.S. team resulted in an Olympic gold medal for Canada.
But perhaps the advertising/marketing team that put this commercial together for the Canadian coffee giant had vision.  You take a product, in this case young hockey phenom Crosby, match it up with another successful product, Tim Hortons coffee, of course and you get win, win right?
Tim Hortons have … (11 comments)

jenny kotulak oakville: Take Me Home - To Oakville, Ontario - 01/07/10 11:01 PM
I've done my share of promoting the Town of Oakville with my past blogs and photos.  I happened to find this video on Youtube that I thought I would share.
Oakville Mayor Rob Burton narrates this short snapshot of our beautiful  and vibrant town.  I find it very easy to promote Oakville's virtues to out of town clients. Leafy neighbourhoods, quality schools and a charming downtown core are just a few reasons to call Oakville home.

jenny kotulak oakville: Why Buy And Sell Real Estate In November & December ? - Why Not ? - 11/03/09 10:51 AM
Many people feel that November and December are less than stellar months to buy or sell a home. I don't believe there is ever a bad time of year to make a real estate transaction.  Here are 10 reasons why  these months present  great opportunities.1. Unmotivated sellers take their homes off the market. Therefore there is LESS COMPETITION for serious sellers. Unmotivated sellers will put their homes back on the market in January when a rush of other will also. Chances are they still won't sell unless they are priced correctly and show well.2. Homes SHOW WELL over the holidays. Seasonal decorations, warm fires, … (15 comments)

jenny kotulak oakville: How To Encourage Volunteers - If There's A Will - There's A Way - 09/29/09 03:40 PM
Many of you are volunteers, I'm sure.  And many of you probably recruit volunteers, either for Board committees, social committees, sports organizations, etc.  Real Estate lends itself to volunteerism.
Because our schedules are usually more flexible, and because we need to get out and social network we tend to get involved in our Board or our community.  My involvement with my Real Estate Board led me to become the Chair of the Leadership Development Committee.
Our  committee mandate is to recruit future Board leaders.  How do you do this? This information is not specific to Real Estate Board volunteerism.  It is … (3 comments)

jenny kotulak oakville: Hey Mr. Postman Bring Me Some Mail - Or Not - 09/16/09 01:57 PM
Did you open your mailbox this morning?  Not your E-MAIL box, but your SNAIL MAIL box.  What did you receive?  Anything good?
Do you have the old fashioned door to door delivery?  Or do you have to trek to the superbox down the street?  The price you pay for buying in a newer subdivision.  But the exercise is good.  And chatting with your neighbours can be good.  Or not.
Or do you live in a rural area and wait for the little handle to go up before you trot down the lane?  Some of you may even have to go to the local … (41 comments)

jenny kotulak oakville: Have You Had Your Caramilk - I Mean Camel Milk Bar Today ? - 07/25/09 07:39 PM
Yes, indeed the world's first chocolate made of camel milk is set to go on sale soon.  Word out of Dubai is that chocolate manufacturer All Nassma plans to be the "Godiva of the Middle East".  This luxury product will soon find its way to Arab markets, Japan, Europe and the U.S.
But don't look for it on your supermarket shelves.  This is a niche product and you will probably find it in mall locations.  Think Laura Secord.  This chocolate will have no additives or preservatives.
Presently there are two camel farms in Dubai.  The major benefits of camel's milk are that … (13 comments)

jenny kotulak oakville: Sunday Morning Song Choice - Where Were You In 1965? - 07/05/09 10:40 AM
I woke up this morning to the sounds of the radio playing Turn! Turn! Turn !  (To Everything There is a Season) by The Byrds.  The DJ made mention of the fact that the song was based on the Bible's Ecclesiastes 3:1. With the exception of  the title and the last line the lyrics were taken almost verbatim from the King James version. I had always liked this song but never gave any real thought to the words.
The song became a number 1 hit on the Billboard Top 100 in 1965 by The Byrds so I thought I would have a look at the lyrics … (23 comments)

jenny kotulak oakville: Road Trip - There Were No Roads But There Were Lots Of Fish - 06/24/09 11:42 PM
No roads lead to Elsas, Ontario.  Located 459 miles north of Toronto, the only ways in are by train or plane.  Why would anyone want to visit Elsas?  For the fishing, the beauty and the peace and quiet.
For a half dozen years or so, a group of assorted friends, and friends of friends have made the trek to spend a week  in May fishing.  This year two of the "regular's" sons were invited to go along.  My nephew Justin was one of them.
These photos were taken by Justin and his father.  As you can see by his catch, I would … (20 comments)

jenny kotulak oakville: Wacky Wednesday - The Life And Times Of Nursery Rhymes - 06/24/09 12:24 AM
I was looking at old photos the other day and I came across Marguerite de Angeli's Book of Nursery and Mother Goose Rhymes.  I tried very hard to keep up with photo albums but as each of my four children were born it became more and more difficult to remain organized,
Now each child has their own plastic Rubbermaid container.  Inside are photos, their baby books, school pictures, report cards, assorted  writing journals and artwork, certificates, awards, keepsakes, etc.  This is about as organized as it's going to get.
I decided to have a browse through the nursery rhymes book as I … (5 comments)

jenny kotulak oakville: Wordless Wednesday - Sunset Over Bronte - 05/06/09 11:51 PM

On a late spring day, I happened to be in Bronte with my camera and I was able to capture a beautiful sunset above the pier.  It was still a very cool day so there wasn't much activity happening.

The Bronte Pier was a very lonely place to be.  Warmer days will fill the benches.  The boats will take their places in their slips.  The marina will come alive.

The reflection of the lighthouse on Lake Ontario.  A beautiful spot to be, any day of the year.

Speed Humps = Traffic Calmed Neighbourhoods ?

Spring has arrived in Oakville.  How can I tell?  The tulips are starting to open?  The trilliums are spreading throughout  the woods and ravines?  The cafes & restaurants are opening their patios?  All very good indications that spring has sprung.
But you know spring is finally here when the speed humps are relocated  around town in  areas that are now deemed to be "traffic calmed neighbourhoods."  Their … (12 comments)

jenny kotulak oakville: Selling Your House In A Buyer's Market - 03/11/09 12:25 AM
Is it a little tougher to sell a home in Oakville right now? Definitely and there are a variety of reasons why. First off there is more inventory available. Secondly the buyers are not making rushed purchases. The pressure is off. We are seeing very few multiple offers. It's simple really. More listings available, less buyers buying. The pendulum has swung back to to a buyers' market. The ball is in the buyers' court. No matter how you describe it the buyers are in the drivers seat. So what does that mean? Buyers are waiting and watching. I am finding there … (3 comments)

Life's A Beach
I recently had the opportunity to attend the National Association of REALTORS Convention in Orlando, Florida. I was one of approximately 1000 International delegates to mingle with over 25,000 American delegates. I attended some wonderful sessions and listened to dynamic speakers. It was a time to network with other salespeople and brokers from around the world who all have the same thing in common. Many of us Canadian delegates stayed at the Portofino Hotel at Universal Studios so it was a delight to be so close to the theme park on Sunday … (4 comments)
