jenny kotulak remax: Take A Hike - To Hullett Marsh - 05/22/11 11:31 PM
A few weeks ago I took my dog Lola for a hike to Hullett Marsh.  This incredible property of over 5400 acres was a delight to see.  Lola and I enjoyed our walk so much that I told my husband I'd like him to see it on his day off last week.
Hullett Marsh is so large that there are many different entrance points and trails.  We followed a dead end road, parked and headed onto the trail.  We passed by swampy areas and a point where canoes can enter into the water, before coming to an old iron bridge where there must … (5 comments)

jenny kotulak remax: Go Daddy - Go - Go - Daddy Be Gone - 05/11/11 10:24 PM
I registered 3 domain names with Go Daddy a couple of years ago and I'm kicking myself for it now.  I've puchased most of my domain names through my Point 2 Agent website and have them automatically pointed to my homepage or a separate page I create.
When I moved a couple of months ago I had to change internet service providers so I lost my email addresses.  That in itself was very frustrating and I highly advise that you use an email address that is not tied to a service provider that you may not always have permanent access to.

jenny kotulak remax: Las Vegas - Lots To Love - But Two Thumbs Down To Starbucks & McDonalds - 03/11/11 01:57 AM
Viva Las Vegas - what a city.  I've just spent the last 5 days here attending a RE/MAX convention at Mandalay Bay Hotel with 5000 other RE/MAX REALTORS® from 50 countries.  Canada was represented by about 500 agents who by the looks of it all had a great time.
We couldn't have asked for better weather which apparently is unseasonably warm in the mid 70's. I enjoyed listening to Joe Theismann and Gary Vaynerchuk both with their own distinct messages.   I left a few dollars in the slot machines.
I met up with a fellow AR member and will do a separate post … (18 comments)

jenny kotulak remax: Sunday Drive - Oxford County, Ontario - 02/20/11 06:06 PM
It's been three weeks since we moved to Tavistock in Oxford County. We are fairly well settled in and it was a relatively balmy - 1 degrees C. so I figured it was a great day for a Sunday drive.  I checked out a few places that I wanted to visit, put my dog Lola in the back seat and hit the road.
Our first stop was at the  Embro Pond Conservation Trail.  Unfortunately the snow was still pretty deep and I'd go a few steps before I would end up knee deep with one leg.  It was also pretty noisy as for some … (19 comments)

jenny kotulak remax: Rural Roots - #1 - Heading Down The Road - 02/09/11 12:08 AM
It's been 10 days since we packed the moving truck, a pickup truck, a van and my car and left Oakville for our new home in Tavistock an hour and a bit down the road.  Ten action packed days, I must add.
The journey down Highway 401 was not without incident as I noticed an object flying across the road ahead of us.  At first I thought it was just a piece of cardboard but as we drove a little further we noticed a box spring laying on the shoulder of the road, and a car in the middle lane stopped … (22 comments)

jenny kotulak remax: Speechless Sunday - Hola Cuba - 12/13/10 12:09 AM
I love Cuba and I've visited 3 times in the past year and a half.  I just returned from Cayo Guillermo on December 4th after a wonderful week of fun in the sun with my husband, my sister and her husband.
Although I've only been home a week, the holiday already seems like a distant memory.  I thought I would share some of my memories with you as we haven't seen much sun in the past few days here.  The weather  has been dull and drizzly and while it is raining here many areas around us are getting hit with major snowstorms.
Thanks Cuba, for … (29 comments)

jenny kotulak remax: John Lennon - Just Imagine - 12/08/10 11:32 AM
I can still remember clearly the day John Lennon died.  I could have chosen the words murdered, executed or gunned down but the media will use those words enough today, the 30th anniversary of his passing.
I think we all have memories of where we were when we heard the news about the death of a famous or prolific person.  I was sitting in a classroom at school when the principal gave us the news that John F. Kennedy had died.  I won't ever forget that even though I was only a 7 year old Canadian and he wasn't even our President.
August 16th, 1977 is … (13 comments)

jenny kotulak remax: Neighbourhood Watch - Coronation Park - Oakville Real Estate - 04/01/10 11:56 PM
When someone mentions the words Coronation Park in Oakville they are talking about one of two things.  The park itself, located on Lakeshore Road along the shores of Lake Ontario in the western part of Oakville; or the community that surrounds the park.
Homes in the area that surrounds this popular park are situated on large, mature treed properties.  Most of the homes in the area were built in the 1960's and 1970's.  The majority of the homes were built of brick and consist mostly of bungalows, split-levels and two storey designs.
Being within walking distance of the lake has … (13 comments)

jenny kotulak remax: Competition Is Good - At The Olympics - But What About When Buying A House ? - 02/22/10 05:12 PM
Competition is a good thing right?  It means you have to be at the top of your game.  If you are really good you may even win something.  There are lots of different kinds of rewards.
Medals, trophies, money, recognition, fame (sometimes only the 15 minute kind).
As a buyer looking to purchase a house, is competition a good thing?  What is the reward if you "win"?
A house you spent 15 minutes looking at before you had to make an instant decision because there was another offer, or more, being presented on it. A house that you probably didn't have a building inspection … (9 comments)

jenny kotulak remax: I'm In The Phone Book - And So Is This Guy - 02/21/10 05:55 PM
Awhile back I was asked if it was okay if some of my photos were used for the 2010 Halton & Peel Region telephone book and Yellow Pages.  My photos?
I was rather surprised but certainly had no problem with the idea.  I was asked to email a bunch of different photos and that was the last I heard of it.
A couple of weeks ago a large yellow phone book containing over 1700 pages arrived on my doorstep.  I started flicking through the pages and found two of my photos right near the front.  Now they weren't this large mind you, and … (26 comments)

jenny kotulak remax: Oakville Real Estate Statistics - January 2010 - 02/04/10 11:20 AM

The number of home sales in Oakville in January 2010 increased by a whopping 133% over January 2009. Average sale price and median sale price also rose substantially.  In January 2009 we were still in the throes of an economic downturn which resulted in lower than average sales for the month.
It's important to keep that in mind when comparing the stats but since May of 2009 we have seen an overall recovery in the Oakville, Milton & District housing market.
All indications point to a healthy balanced market for 2010.  Interest rates remain at an all time low and first time buyers are driving the … (9 comments)

jenny kotulak remax: Feeling Good - My First Post On My New Laptop - 01/31/10 12:44 AM
Well today was the day.  My old Acer laptop had literally come unhinged.  The screen was hanging on by the right hinge only and I had to poke and prod the screen in the corners to get the squiggly lines to disappear and for the cursor to move.
Holy frustration Batman.  Enough was enough.  This is a means to my livlihood right? I have to be able to access information quickly and efficiently.  I haven't been able to transport my laptop or even close the top for many months now.
So over I go to my daughter's Dell laptop to do some research … (13 comments)

Waterfalls are beautiful to behold at any time of the year.  Borers Falls is located near Dundas, Ontario.  There are actually 125 different waterfalls in the Hamilton, Ontario area.
This is a view of Borers Falls in Novermber.

Here is the same view of Borers Falls in January.  Both spectacular in their own way.

How awesome is it that different seasons allow us see the same thing in different ways.

jenny kotulak remax: Take Me Home - To Oakville, Ontario - 01/07/10 11:01 PM
I've done my share of promoting the Town of Oakville with my past blogs and photos.  I happened to find this video on Youtube that I thought I would share.
Oakville Mayor Rob Burton narrates this short snapshot of our beautiful  and vibrant town.  I find it very easy to promote Oakville's virtues to out of town clients. Leafy neighbourhoods, quality schools and a charming downtown core are just a few reasons to call Oakville home.

jenny kotulak remax: Winter In Oakville - Or Is That Sn'Oakville ? - 01/07/10 12:22 AM
Winter - You either love it or you hate it.  Or you have never experienced it.  The dictionary describes winter as: Usually the coldest season of the year in which the sun shines most obliquely upon any region.
The calendar tells us we are only into our third week of winter.  Spring won't show it's face until March 21.  Living in Oakville, Ontario you get to experience four distinct seasons.  Oakville is in an enviable location for winter sports.
For skiers, there are many modest ski hills in the area.  Glen Eden provides fun for the whole family and is located in Milton, Ontario, … (16 comments)

jenny kotulak remax: Oakville Ontario Sales Statistics - December 2009 - 01/05/10 09:30 PM

The number of home sales in Oakville, Ontario in December 2009 increased by 106 % over last December.  The year end numbers show that the Oakville real estate market is alive and well.  Not only were the number of sales up, but both the average and median sale prices rose from the previous December.
All indications point to a healthy balanced market for the New Year.  Interest rates remain at an all time low and first time buyers are driving the market.  Inventory is low in Oakville resulting in many listings selling with multiple offers, often over list price.

jenny kotulak remax: I Lost My Pride - And Found Long Underwear - And It Only Took Me x?x? Years - 12/26/09 11:08 PM
Winter has arrived and I enjoy taking my dog for long walks outdoors.  As the temperature has been dropping, so have the length of our walks.  I started thinking perhaps I needed another layer of clothing to keep my legs warm.
Now I've seen men's long underwear and it isn't pretty.  It's thick and bulky and I assumed that the women's version, if there was such a thing would have been created equally as unappealing.
I decided to have a look when I was in The Bay at Oakville Place.  Lo and behold, there they were.  Ladie's long underwear.  There were so many different kinds it … (68 comments)

jenny kotulak remax: Oakville Ontario Sales Statistics - November 2009 - 12/16/09 10:46 PM

Home sales in Oakville, Ontario in November 2009 were up by a whopping 102 % over November 2008.  Sales in November 2008 were lower due to the downturn in the market with Canada in the throes of an economic recession.  Oakville's real estate market began to rebound in April of this year and it continues to be healthy.  Certain price ranges in Oakville are low in inventory and many sellers are receiving multiple offers on their properties.  Typically, new listings begin to appear on the market in January as well as listings that did not sell and were removed from the mls over the holiday … (5 comments)
