stratford remax: Welcome Or Not - Walmart Is Coming To Stratford - 05/17/11 04:13 PM
The 10 year expensive battle is over.  Walmart is coming to Stratford, Ontario.  Not in its' desired location or original size but none the less ground will be broken in 2012 to pave the way for the mega box store to put down roots in the Stratford community.
The city has spent $1.4 million dollars on legal fees alone in their fight to keep the retail giant at bay with their efforts to preserve the downtown retail businesses.  Many downtown merchants are concerned that Walmart's arrival will put additional stress on businesses already facing challenges.
The new location, still in the City's east end is … (12 comments)

stratford remax: Speechless Sunday - At The Aberfoyle Mill - 05/15/11 04:35 PM
I enjoy visiting and photographing historic old mills in Ontario.  On my way home from a meeting in Toronto last week I decided to stop by the Aberfoyle Mill near Guelph, Ontario.  This old mill is now a well known restaurant and although I didn't have time to eat, I took a stroll around the property and snapped a few photos.

The Aberfoyle Mill was built approximately 1859

There was a large pond with gazebo and this waterfall right beside the Mill.  It was a dull, drizzly day but this would be a beautiful spot to sit and relax after a … (15 comments)

stratford remax: The Blogstar & The Rockstar - It's All In The Name - 05/08/11 03:53 PM
There's a blogger here at Active Rain that I have to give a shout out to today because he seems to be everywhere these days.  Rob Thomas comments on a lot of blog posts of the people that I also follow.
He spends a lot of time leaving comments and in return Rob receives a lot of comments on his posts.  I've read some of Rob's recent posts and he seems to regularly garner 20 - 40 comments.  I've noticed lately that comments are way down, especially for featured posts.
In the past it was common for features to receive 100 … (8 comments)

stratford remax: How's The Market? - Thank You For Asking - 05/03/11 03:05 PM
As a REALTOR® I often get asked the following questions. "How's the market?" "Is it a good time to buy?" " When's the best time to sell?" Those are not easy questions to answer with a short response. I often respond by saying " If only I had that crystal ball". But then my 22 years of working every different type of market there is, and many times over, kicks in and rather than generalizing I ask what specific information they require for their needs. I am going to try to give the Cole's Notes version of my answers to these … (8 comments)

stratford remax: Motivational Monday - Become A Modern Day Explorer - 05/02/11 05:29 AM
First came blogging, then came photography, then came hiking.  When I first started blogging it soon became apparent that I should add photos to my posts to create some additional interest.  With all the copyright issues I knew I wasn't supposed to "borrow" photos from other sources without permission.
So I decided I'd have to create my own photos.  I had never had an interest in photography before but I purchased a half decent digital camera and went to work in my community snapping photos of anything relevant for my upcoming posts.
Who knew that being forced to supply my own work would … (8 comments)

stratford remax: Wow - Good Things Happen When You Take A Break - 04/22/11 02:43 PM
I have been away from AR more than I've been around, the last couple of months.  Just too much going on with a major move and all that comes with it.
Now that I look back though, the physical move was the easiest part of the transition.  The biggest challenge has been to update all of my social networking sites with my new contact information.
I had no idea since I jumped on the blogging and social media/networking bandwagon a couple of years ago just how much info I had out there in the Google Universe.
My first project was to build a new real … (14 comments)

stratford remax: A Month In The Life Of ------- Me - 03/04/11 03:54 PM
I'm so excited, I don't know where to begin.  My life this past four weeks has been anything but calm.  My mind has formulated so many blog posts but none got written.  And life doesn't slow down in order for you to get caught up on those posts.
I feel so guilty that I've neglected Active Rain.  Ditto for my photography site Flickr.  But I've been experiencing major technical difficulties.
My one year old laptop died and went in for repairs.  That's a whole blog in itself but I will leave that for another day.  I picked it up yesterday after … (22 comments)
