personal responsibility: My World: I was dead... or just about as close to it as you can get. - 01/17/12 11:30 AM
I was dead. My brainwaves were flat-lined and my heart was stopped for nearly seven hours. During this time, a skilled surgeon restructured the delicate leaves of two of the valves in my heart. Please excuse the dramatic way I started this post, but I've got something important to say to you and I wanted to get your attention. For several years, my heart had been trying to tell me that it didn't approve of some aspects of how I was living my life, but I'd ignored its attempts. It wasn't beating regularly. I had atrial fibrillation due to erratic electrical (3 comments)
personal responsibility: Joke of the day - #306: Blogging without a computer... - 09/09/11 09:12 AM
Today, everyone is focused on digital marketing. If you're not using Facebook and Twitter, you're missing out. If you don't have a website, you're missing out. Everything is happening faster and faster online. News stories propagate far more quickly through the blogosphere than they ever did through traditional media. In fact, traditional media outlets are often reduced to quoting stories from independent blogs. Pretty interesting time, don't you think? I purchased some organic soap the other day. I'd been reading about all of the chemicals in the fragrences used in many of our common household products and their deleterious effects on human physiology, so I decided to get some plain soap. It was difficult to find, but our grocery store did have some. The funny thing is, the package did not have any instructions for use on it. I guess we all should know how to use soap, but based on the list below, we probably don't. In case you needed further proof that the human race is doomed, here (1 comments)
personal responsibility: Joke of the day - #217: The red pill or the blue pill - it's your choice. - 06/12/11 08:23 AM
If you take a moment to think about our culture in terms of modern medicine, probably the first thing that will come to your mind is that we all think that literally everything should be cured by taking a pill. Here's an example: One afternoon, a man went to his doctor and told him that he hasn't been feeling well lately. The doctor examined the man, left the room, and came back with three different bottles of pills. The doctor said, "Take the white pill with a large glass of water when you wake up. Take the brown pill with a (2 comments)
