Through the Daytona Beach Area Association of Realtors® Multiple Listing Service (MLS) there were 18 Ormond By The Sea, Florida homes sold in April, 2013. Two (2) of the sales had lender involvement, either a short sale or foreclosure. Additionally, there are 36 homes under contract waiting closing and 10 of those have lender involvement. The highest priced home sold was a 5 bedroom 4 bath on John Anderson Dr. for $1,175,000 and the lowest priced was a 2-bedroom 1 bath on Carol Rd. for $70,000.

Hurricane season 2013 is almost here. Are you ready? Hurricane season here in central Florida and the Atlantic is June 1 to November 30 each year. Experts will be publishing their predictions soon and it is expected they will forecast an average year. The problem is that it only takes one big storm to create serious problems and it sure pays to be ready. Once a storm is on the way the batteries, water and other supplies you may need will be in short supply so get ready NOW!

The Florida division of emergency management has a website where you can build a disaster plan for your home or for your business. For help creating your disaster plan, visit www.floridadisaster.org.

Visit the Volusia County emergency management web site at http://www.volusia.org/emergency/ for updated information and a PDF disaster preparedness checklist. There is also lots of information at the FEMA web site at www.fema.gov/

Just be prepared and hope we don't need to implement our disaster plans.

Homes for sale in Ormond By The Sea Florida

There are 74 Homes for Sale in Ormond By The Sea, Florida through the Daytona Beach Area Association of Realtors® Multiple Listing Service (MLS) as of April 30, 2013. An additional 36 homes are under contract awaiting closing. As has been the case in recent months, lenders are pricing their properties more aggressively to get quicker sales. Lenders are involved in 8 of the 75 homes for sale but 10, almost half, of the 36 homes under contract. Asking prices for Ormond By The Sea homes currently for sale range from $89,300 to $1,290,000.
The inventory of Ormond By The Sea Florida homes for sale has stabilized and that is a good indicator that the market may be getting back to a being more balanced between buyers and sellers. There are investors waiting for the lower priced homes to come available and if homes come on the market at a reasonable price they are being sold quickly.

At the beginning of 2012 there were 25 Ormond By The Sea homes under contract and now there are 36, which is another good indicator for the health of the market.

At the beginning of this year there were 91 Ormond By The Sea Florida homes for sale so the inventory has been reduced which will help strengthen the market.

As of April 30, 2013 we have 45 Ormond By The Sea Florida condos for sale through the Daytona Beach Area Realtors® Multiple Listing Service (MLS). There are 29 priced under $200,000 and 6 of those are under $100,000. Additionally, there are 18 condos under contract pending closing of which 3 involve the lender as a short sale or foreclosure. There are 5 of the 45 condos for sale involving a lender , either as a short sale or foreclosure.

We began this year with 57 Ormond By The Sea condos for sale so the inventory has stayed relatively low. There were 95 for sale at the beginning of 2011 so the inventory has been reduced dramatically making for a more balanced market.

The Daytona Seafood Festival at Manatee Island is scheduled for 10AM to 7PM on Saturday May 11, 2013 in Daytona Beach Florida.

A seafood truck rodeo lots of seafood featuring several local restaurants. Bring the kids and visit the kid zone, petting zoo, and pony rides for some great times for the little ones and don’t forget to bring your camera to capture those special moments.

Admission is $5 and children 12 and under are free! So bring the family and all your friends for a great time enjoying the music food and fun.

Continuous live music and and entertainment and of course food will be featured at Manatee Island Park for the Daytona Seafood Festival at Manatee Island.

Manatee Island Park is right behind the Josie Rogers House at 325 North Beach St. in Downtown Daytona Beach. From International Speedway Blvd go North on Beach St at the bottom of the bridge and proceed past the News-Journal Center and the Harley store and you will see the Josie Rogers house on the right. Vehicles are not permitted in the park itself, so find a spot on the street to park and enter to the right of the Josie Rogers House.

Sea Turtle Nesting Season 2013 begins in Ormond By The Sea Florida

East Central Florida including Ormond By The Sea, Daytona Beach and all of Volusia County are under lighting restrictions from May 1 to October 31 each year. The restrictions are designed to protect several species of endangered and threatened sea turtles that come ashore to lay their eggs. On average it takes 48-60 days for their eggs to hatch.

Female turtles come ashore beginning May first and lay their eggs in the sand above the tide line.

Balcony, porch and other lights that could potentially be seen from the beach must be turned off or shielded. Draw drapes or otherwise keep lights off that may confuse the little hatchlings.

Hatchlings head to the ocean when they emerge from their nest and could be confused by lights coming from the opposite direction.

Several nests have been spotted already even this early in the season.

The 41St Annual Art in the Park will be held Saturday May 4th and Sunday May 5th from 10am until 4pm at Rockefeller Gardens.

There will be over a hundred vendors for this event. There will be artists, crafters, entertainment, food vendors, and activities.

The arts and craft will be judged with over $2500.00 in prizes.You can enjoy shopping, dining, a free kids craft zone inside the Casements, and even more entertainment. As well a caricatures artist will also be there starting at $5.00. lots of food and lots of music will enhance your experience at the 41st annual Ormond BeachArt in the park. 4Th Annual Halifax Oyster Festival

Manatee Island Park in Downtown Daytona Beach will be the site of the 4th Annual Halifax Oyster Festival on April 27, 2013 from 11 AM to 9 PM - Rain or Shine!

Free parking. Admission is $6 and kids under 7 are free. Each paid admission gets you a $5 gift card for area restaurants.

Lots of oysters at 2 oyster pits serving raw and steamed oysters. There will be lots of other food and beverages available with more than half a dozen local restaurants and vendors serving everything from Ahi Tuna to burgers, seafood, beer, mixed drinks and wine.

Activities include a kids zone with clowns and face painting and other fun things for the youngsters.

The Halifax Sailing Association will be providing FREE sailboat rides on a 25’ sailboat. Paddleboard demonstrations and games and an art exhibit will provide hours of entertainment. The music begins at Noon with live entertainment on 2 stages continuing until 9 PM.

Proceeds are to help local oyster bed restoration projects.

Manatee Island Park is right behind the Josie Rogers House at 355 North Beach St. in Downtown Daytona Beach. From International Speedway Blvd go North on Beach St at the bottom of the bridge and proceed past the News-Journal Center and the Harley store and you will see the Josie Rogers house on the right. Vehicles are not permitted in the park itself, so find a spot on the street to park and enter to the right of the Josie Rogers House.

The Ormond Beach Florida Celtic Music Festival is presented by the Ormond Beach Main Street Merchants Association and is scheduled for April 19-21, 2013. This year it will start off with a whiskey tasting on the

18th from 5pm to 630 pm at the Anderson Price Building, 42 N. Beach st. with a concert following at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center, 399 N. U.S.1 Ormond Beach. The festival then moves to Rockefeller gardens for the 20th and 21st. Rockefeller Gardens is a riverfront park at the southeast corner of the Granada Bridge in Ormond Beach Florida at 26 Riverside Dr. For information about the Park call 386-676-3216.

Homes for sale in Ormond By The Sea Florida

There are 79 Homes for Sale in Ormond By The Sea, Florida through the Daytona Beach Area Association of Realtors® Multiple Listing Service (MLS) as of March 31, 2013. An additional 36 homes are under contract awaiting closing. As has been the case in recent months, lenders are pricing their properties more aggressively to get quicker sales. Lenders are involved in 5 of the 79 homes for sale but 10, almost half, of the 36 homes under contract. Asking prices for Ormond By The Sea homes currently for sale range from $99,000 to $1,290,000.
The inventory of Ormond By The Sea Florida homes for sale has stabilized and that is a good indicator that the market may be getting back to a being more balanced between buyers and sellers. There are investors waiting for the lower priced homes to come available and if homes come on the market at a reasonable price they are being sold quickly.

At the beginning of 2012 there were 25 Ormond By The Sea homes under contract and now there are 37, which is another good indicator for the health of the market.

At the beginning of this year there were 91 Ormond By The Sea Florida homes for sale so the inventory has been reduced which will help strengthen the market.

Rock N' Rib Fest 2013 at Central Park

The 3rd Annual Rock N' Rib Fest at Central Park at town Center will be from 5 to 9PM on Friday, April 12, 2013 and Noon to 9PM Saturday April 13, 2013 with a fireworks display to end the event. Tickets are $3 and under 12 is free. The first 300 people to pay $5 Friday at 5PM will be the judjes for the people’s choice award. Those 300 will sample the entries and vote at 7PM. The winner gets $250.00.

Enjoy the carnival rides, kids zone and lots of great music including a 7PM performance by The Long Run Band. There will be other entertainment including continuous live music throughout the event, and lots of BBQ vendors, swimming and racing pigs and much more. So bring your family and your chair for a great day at Rock N' Rib Fest. Oh, and bring your appetite too and try some chicken, pork and ribs. Visit the Budweiser tent and other bar tents, watch the backyard BBQ competition. There will be ATM machines on site for your convenience.

Festa Italiana! 2013 in Daytona Beach Florida

Festa Italiana 2013 in Daytona Beach Florida is a 16 year old annual 4 day event featuring authentic Italian food, drinks and desserts and lots of activities for the young and old.

Festa Italiana is put on by Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Daytona Beach Florida and benefits their school. This is the largest fundraiser for the parish school.

The 2013 schedule for Festa Italiana is Thursday, April 11 through Sunday, April 14, 2013. Event times are 5 to 10PM Thursday and Friday, noon to 10PM Saturday and 11AM to 5PM Sunday.

The Festival is kicked off at 1PM with a procession to the beach followed by Mass.

Festa Italiana 2013 will feature lots of rides including a merry-go-round and swings. There will be lots of Italian food, entertainment and activities such as a karaoke contest, games and prizes. Join the fun with carnival rides and music and fabulous eats. New this year will be a meatball cook off with judging by local residents. The meatball cook off will be Thursday at 6PM.

There are 37 priced under $200,000 and 7 of those are under $100,000. Additionally, there are 17 condos under contract pending closing of which 4 involve the lender as a short sale or foreclosure. There are 7 of the 55 condos for sale involving a lender , either as a short sale or foreclosure.

We began this year with 57 Ormond By The Sea condos for sale so the inventory has stabilized. There were 95 for sale at the beginning of 2011 so the inventory has been reduced dramatically making for a more balanced market.
