Speechless Sunday - Things are Changing Across the Street from My House...

It might not look like much, but this is a driveway that is being put in across the street from my house.  If you look closely, you can see that there are stakes in the field.  That's where the house is going to go.  In the not too distant past, we would have horses to look at in this field.  Today the horses run in the next field down to the left.  Soon we will have neighbors.  It will be fun to watch as the house is being … (9 comments)

It started with a phone call from the loan officer who was working with the buyers.  I was representing the sellers, so I was surprised to be talking to this guy.  In fact, I was surprised to be talking to him at all.  He had called my phone from a 1-800 something or other area code and the only reason I answered the phone was to let the spammer have it.  I was loaded for bear but not for what he wanted...my middle initial.

Sometimes you just shake your head at the stupid things people do and say in the world of real estate.  Well more specifically, at the stupid things we Realtors say and do.
Take for example, the Realtor I recently had to deal with who called me incesstantly over 3 days after I had called him to tell him that I was going to possibly be bringing an offer from one of my buyers on one of his properties.  I knew he'd be a real gem to negotiate and deal with.  I'm actually glad I didn't have to.

Here in Oklahoma, we do things...well, let's just say...differently. 
I was driving down the road yesterday when these two guys passed me.  I sat up and took notice of their back window and thought, "Wow!  You don't see that happen very often anymore!"
I wonder how many big cities, like New York or LA, would never allow someone to carry their 22 rifle in their back window these days!

Speechless Sunday - Springtime Oklahoma Dogwood Tree - 04/11/10 08:48 AM

This beautiful tree is located in my backyard.  Every year at this time it displays absolutely gorgeous blooms.  All the dogwoods, tulips, redbuds and other trees and flowers are in full bloom in Oklahoma right now.  And so are our alergies!  You can't really tell from the picture, but this tree took a lot of limb damage in the ice storm this past winter.

Active Rain, Real Estate Trolls and Fact Checking - 04/08/10 08:01 AM
It never ceases to amaze me how people try so many less than honorable ways to sollicit business in the world of Real Estate. 
For example, we were looking at a website yesterday that is advertising buyer's rebates in Oklahoma.  Buyer's rebates are not allowed in Oklahoma and twelve other states.  This is illegal.  And yet, there it was blasted all over this beautiful website.  Someone isn't paying attention to the rules...or doesn't care.  Do they think no one like the nice folks at RESPA and other agents won't notice?  Wrong!

Introducing the New HTC HD2 Smart Phone - 04/05/10 08:13 AM
I have a new HTC HD2.  But many of you know that I was using a Blackberry as my cell phone for quite a while.  And you probably know that the thing walked off a couple of weeks ago (I misplaced it).  In my effort to replace the phone I almost purchased another Blackberry, but instead went with the HTC HD2.
