oklahoma: Speechless Sunday - Diane's Sunflower - 07/18/10 09:15 AM
My wife, Diane, loves to garden.
I do not.
She spends hours in the hot sun.
I do not.
She pulls stubborn weeds.
I do not (except for weedy real estate problems!).
She say's it is theraputic for her.
It is not for me.
She loves her veggies and flowers.
I do too.
And I would say, "I do" to her again today and everyday!
This sunflower is currently one of several she has in our garden.  You can see that we had a visitor this morning.
If you're ever in Oklahoma, be sure to stop by Owasso and visit Diane … (17 comments)

oklahoma: Oklahoma Hunting - 04/18/10 08:15 AM

Here in Oklahoma, we do things...well, let's just say...differently.
I was driving down the road yesterday when these two guys passed me.  I sat up and took notice of their back window and thought, "Wow!  You don't see that happen very often anymore!"
I wonder how many big cities, like New York or LA, would never allow someone to carry their 22 rifle in their back window these days!
For the record, I don't know if the gun was real or not.  Also, for the record, it wasn't too long ago when this scene was fairly common in America...at least … (12 comments)

oklahoma: Speechless Sunday - Springtime Oklahoma Dogwood Tree - 04/11/10 08:48 AM

This beautiful tree is located in my backyard.  Every year at this time it displays absolutely gorgeous blooms.  All the dogwoods, tulips, redbuds and other trees and flowers are in full bloom in Oklahoma right now.  And so are our alergies!  You can't really tell from the picture, but this tree took a lot of limb damage in the ice storm this past winter.

oklahoma: Welcome to Owasso, Oklahoma, the Heartland of America! - 02/10/10 12:04 PM
Welcome to Owasso, Oklahoma, the Heartland of America!
Owasso (pronounced O WAH SO), Oklahoma is a great suburb community of Tulsa, Oklahoma.  It is located just 8 miles north of Tulsa and is a city unto itself.  Owasso is a great place to live as it offers lots of beautiful, newer neighborhoods, areas where you can own half acre or full acre lots, shopping, dining and easy access to Tulsa and the Greater Tulsa airport. You can see from the map below where Owasso is located in relation to Greater Tulsa.

Owasso is a planned community.  For many years, it served as … (4 comments)

oklahoma: Introducing the Bob Haywood 2010 Commercial - 02/09/10 08:49 AM
Okay folks, after much trial and error and having to settle on something that I'm totally thrilled about (thanks to the stinky weather we've been having), it is time to roll out my 2010 commercial.  It's a month past scheduled air date, but here it is...

You can see that it is shot in front of a green screen.  The weather forced us indoors.  All in all...it's okay.  Kind of catchy theme song, huh?
If you live in the Tulsa area, watch for it to air on Channel 2 at various times.

oklahoma: Speechless Sunday: He's a Big Boy! - 01/24/10 08:26 AM

I know it's Speechless Sunday, but I have to comment on this picture.  I saw this big boy yesterday while showing a client a 500 acre ranch for sale here in northern Oklahoma.  For perspective, look at the orange stake behind him.  That stake is 4 foot tall and some of it is under ground.  That means this buffalo is easily 5 to 6 foot tall.  Also, I was zooming in on him with my Blackberry camera, so I'm not as close to him as it looks.
Now, how about this for consideration...the Native Americans, who were here before we were, … (14 comments)

oklahoma: Oklahoma Blizzard 09 - 12/24/09 04:20 PM
Parts of Oklahoma are under a blizzard warning!
This is only our third blizzard warning here in the last 25 years!
Interstate highways are now being closed.  Oklahoma City is reporting that they have 6 inches of snow already.  Apparently there is a 50 car pile up out around Midwest City.
Here's a photo of our driveway.  Doesn't look too bad does it?  What you can't see, feel or experience is the temperature which is below freezing and the 30 mile per hour wind that is blowing.  How about a video of it?  Scroll down!

That weird sound … (9 comments)

oklahoma: A White Christmas in Oklahoma? Say it Ain't So! - 12/23/09 08:49 AM
A White Christmas in Oklahoma?  Say it Ain't So!
Hang onto your hats (and gloves and mittens and scarves and coats!) everyone.  It looks like parts of Oklahoma may have a white Christmas this year.  If you're not from Oklahoma, this may not be a big deal to you, but to us flatlanders, this is huge!  We don't get white Christmas' here very often ever.  I can remember being a kid in Tulsa and going outside to play on my new rollerskates or with my new toys on so many Christmas days because it was sunny and warm outside.  This one … (5 comments)

2009 is almost over and we've wrapped up November, so it's time to take a look at what the housing market looked like for another month here in the Owasso, Oklahoma area.

You can see from our chart that there were 62 houses sold and closed in November in Owasso.  Compare this to 82 in October and 97 in September and you can see pretty quickly that we're on our typical winter … (14 comments)

oklahoma: Speechless Sunday: Yes Virginia, there are TeePees in Oklahoma! - 11/29/09 07:51 AM

Oklahoma.  Land of cowboys, indians and...teepees?  Yep, sure enough!  You can catch these teepee skeletons at some of our Oklahoma rest stops on our highways and toll roads.  But you might not want to stay too long.  They're not real good at protecting you from bad weather!

oklahoma: Moses and the ??? - 10/26/09 09:56 PM
BURNING BUSH!

The sun popped out for a brief while this afternoon and when I saw it I ran outside to capture this picture.  This shrub is called a burning bush.  It is supposed to turn red in the fall, but this is the first year in the last several that it has looked this good.  It will get firey red and then all the leaves will drop to the ground when the show is over.
I thought you might enjoy seeing the colors of fall here in the great plains of Oklahoma!

oklahoma: Seen in Oklahoma - 10/10/09 04:26 PM
Admit it.  You think of Oklahoma as a place where there are teepee's and Buffalo roaming the range, right?  This may have been true at one time, but did you know that Oklahoma actually has more lake surface water per square foot than most other states?
This picture was taken from the front yard of one of our agent's listings near Oologah (pronounced OO LA GAH) Lake.  You can see that we're more than just the waving wheat wind the wind comes sweeping down the plains!

oklahoma: Before you Buy that Foreclosure, Please Read This! - 09/01/09 03:08 PM
Mr. and Mrs. Consumer, before you buy that foreclosure, please read this!
The Facts:Time:  10:00 p.m.Place:  Title Company, Owasso, OklahomaParticipants:  First time home buyers, Realtor, Closer(s)Purpose:  Final closing on foreclosed trailor
Yes, you read the facts right.  We were sitting at a closing table at ten o'clock last night, finally signing papers on a foreclosed, double wide trailer sitting on 2.5 acres.  This was a month past the original closing date, by the way.
Was it a good deal?  Price wise, yes.  It sold at $70,000.  Not bad for 1500 square feet in a flipped double wide with that much property.  … (4 comments)

oklahoma: Limestone Fire Department, Owasso, Oklahoma - 08/23/09 08:23 PM

I was driving down highway 20 the other day when I noticed a large plume of water shooting up into the sky.  It was the Limestone Fire Department of Owasso, Oklahoma doing a training drill.  So I stopped by and took a couple of pics.
The Limestone guys are professional and excellent at what they do.  Here's another pic.

And here's my favorite pic...

Selling Your Home Successfully in the greater Tulsa, Oklahoma area, isn't hard when you know what you're doing!
Today, it's time to talk about wood rot.  In Oklahoma, wood rot is an ongoing maintenance issue.  This is because we typically use wood and Masonite and other kinds of siding materials in home construction.  These types of materials are susceptible to damage from water and moisture.
When it comes time to sell your home, you will be responsible for any damaged wood rot or termite damage to the structure.  Let's take a look at various places where wood rot occurs.

oklahoma: Selling Your Home Successfully in the Tulsa, Oklahoma Area Part Five - 08/21/09 07:38 AM
Selling Your Home Successfully in the greater Tulsa, Oklahoma area, isn't hard when you know what you're doing!
Successful sellers understand that carpet and floor coverings are important when you want to get top dollar for your home.  Let's take a look at a couple of examples of carpet situations.
This is the carpet in our son's room.  He just graduated high school this past May.  You can see that as a teenager, he was pretty hard on the carpet.  It didn't look like that when he moved into the room!  Notice the stains.

Now, lets compare that to carpet in a … (2 comments)
