speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday - The Old Fence Sign in Tulsa Oklahoma - 02/05/12 09:10 AM
You know how it is.  You're out showing houses and you come across one of those things that catches your eye.  It can be an old light fixture, a retro stove, the marks on the wall showing the heights of the kids who grew up there or even...just a fence that has stood in place for a very long time.
This sign caught my eye yesterday as I was showing houses in Tulsa Oklahoma, in an older neighborhood.
The house had long since been abandoned and was in foreclosure.
But the fence has continued to stand guard through all the changes … (4 comments)

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday - It's a Major Award! - 01/22/12 08:53 AM
If you read the title of this blog, you already know that this is going to be about the infamous leg lamp from one of my favorite movies of all time, "A Christmas Story."
And you would be right.
And so here is my Speechless Sunday pic!

How cool is that?  Even though it isn't full sized, I now have the leg lamp from "A Christmas Story" sitting on my desk.  Everytime I turn it on I can still hear Ralphie say, "There's only one thing that could've dragged me away from the soft glow of electric..."
If you don't … (7 comments)

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday - The Bridge to London - 08/07/11 04:09 PM
One thing I enjoy about working in Real Estate is finding the hidden gems of life that lurk in each home and sometimes, in backyards. Take, for example, this sign. I came upon it not long ago while showing yet another foreclosed house.
If you can't read the sign, it says, "Bridge to London." When I saw the sign, it made me smile because I could see in my mind a father and his daughter in the garage cutting out the sign or maybe a mom taking her to Hobby Lobby or Lowes to find a precut piece of wood that … (7 comments)

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday - Bob's Candy Canes - 12/19/10 08:46 AM
When I was a kid growing up, I only knew two men named Bob.  One was a friend of the family and the other was my brother-in-law.  It didn't seem like to me that there were very many Bob's in the world.  I myself was a Robert.  Don't remember too many people with my name around either.
Today it is different.  Today it seems like there are Bob's everywhere.  It's probably just my age, but I'm holding onto the idea that the name "Bob" is fairly popular (or "pop U lar" as Glinda might sing it).
We were putting together Christmas … (15 comments)

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday - What is That Up There on the Chimney? - 09/05/10 08:42 AM
I was out showing houses the other day in the country when we noticed something strange way up high on the chimney.
At first we could make out what it was.  Can you?

How about now?

Upon closer examination, we discovered that it was a rubber snake!  The owners had put it there to scare of birds that might want to roost at the top of the chimney.

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday - Pretty Please Buy My House! - 08/15/10 08:37 AM
With a tough housing market, some folks are becoming desparate to sell their houses.  I was driving in Tulsa the other day, when I came across this sign, posted in front of a house on a busy street.

At first, I thought the sign was a Real Estate sign, but upon closer examination, I found this was not true.
Can you read what the sign say's?  No?
How about now?

The sign say's, "Pretty Please Buy My House!"
You gotta feel sorry for the homeowner.  Hopefully, someone will come along soon and buy the house!
It may be desperate, … (17 comments)

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday - Bathroom Humor - 06/27/10 08:06 AM
I recently listed a beautiful home in Lake Valley in Owasso, Oklahoma.
When I walked into the Master Bathroom, I knew I had a fun loving seller on my hands!

The entire rest of the home in Lake Valley is as creative and fun as the Master Bathroom.  Watch for more pictures to come soon of the rest of the Lake Valley home.
One other very special feature of this Lake Valley home is that it is one of two homes on its' side of the street that back to the neighborhood Lake Valley lake (also known as a very … (18 comments)

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday - What's Missing? - 05/30/10 08:24 AM

Speechless Sunday - What's Missing?
Tomorrow is Memorial Day.  It is a day set aside to honor those military veterans who fought and died for the freedoms we enjoy.  Wouldn't it be great if, no matter where we are at tomorrow, everyone took a few moments to honor those brave men and women who served and died for our freedoms?
It is a shame that too often we are the ones who are missing in action when it comes to Patriotism and love of country.  The freedoms we enjoy were given to us at the very highest price - the … (5 comments)

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday - The Lemon Wedge - 05/23/10 08:51 AM

I pulled up to one of our local restaurants this past week for a networking group planning meeting.  When I got out of my car, this is what I saw.  Somebody had poured out their drink onto the pavement leaving behind their lemon wedge.  And somehow or other, a tooth floss pick ended up on the ground too.  Was it in their car and they tossed it out?  I don't know, but it was disgusting.
The picture made me shake my head in wonder at the callousness that has crept into our society.  Maybe it is a stretch, but I think it is … (16 comments)

speechless sunday: Speechless Mother's Day Sunday - Diane and Heather circa 1988 - 05/09/10 08:57 AM

This picutre was taken 22 Years ago in Cincinnati Ohio.  Diane and I had been married three years when Heather, our firstborn and only daughter came along.  I believe this picture was taken on a Sunday because they are dressed up so nicely.  Today Heather is a beautiful 22 year old and Diane is still my beautiful bride.  Happy Mother's Day to both of these wonderful women in my life (and mom too!).

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday - Things are Changing Across the Street from My House - 04/25/10 07:12 AM
Speechless Sunday - Things are Changing Across the Street from My House...

It might not look like much, but this is a driveway that is being put in across the street from my house.  If you look closely, you can see that there are stakes in the field.  That's where the house is going to go.  In the not too distant past, we would have horses to look at in this field.  Today the horses run in the next field down to the left.  Soon we will have neighbors.  It will be fun to watch as the house is being … (10 comments)

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday - The Hot Water Tank - 03/28/10 07:55 AM
I have a great little house under contract in midtown Tulsa.  It was built in the 1940's and still has the original and beautiful hardwood floors.  It also has some of the original lights and the original "Tulsa" tile in the bathroom.
One other original that it has is this...

Yeah, it's a hot water tank.  And it is sitting in the top of the pantry.  And get this.  This tank was purchased in 1977 and still works like a charm!

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday - The Sewage Truck - 03/21/10 07:05 AM
I was going down the road the other day when I came upon a sewage truck.  What he had on the back of the tank cracked me up...

If you can't read it, it says, "If you can dump it, we can pump it.  Your number 2 is our number 1"
Now that's having a great attitude with a dirty job!
Have a great Sunday!

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday: Give me That Ball! - 03/14/10 07:53 AM

Shot this picture yesterday at a reinspection at a house.  The kids were having a "ball" playing keep away from the dog!  And every now and then the dog would get the ball and then the chase was on!  It made it hard to keep an eye on the reinspect!

speechless sunday: Now That's a Burger! - 02/28/10 12:53 PM

Can you say two all beef paties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun?  This is the way we make 'em out here in the flatlands!  My friend had to squish it all down to get it in his mouth.  And he ate every bite!

Speechless Sunday:  Where is this Famous Place?
Let's start with a broad view.  Recognize it yet?

No?  Okay, how about now?

Still No?  Okay, let's zoom in again...

It's the Chrome Shop Mafia garage from the TV show, "Trick My Truck"!  Sorry for the blurry photo, but the picture was taken with my old Blackberry Pearl from across the street.  The Chrome Shop Mafia garage is affiliated with www.4statetrucks.com.  Their website is www.chromeshopmafia.com.  And check this out.  The Chrome Shop Mafia garage is located just off exit 4 on Interstate highway 44 in southwest Missouri.  It is across the street from … (10 comments)

This picture hangs in the lobby of my closing company.  Everytime I am there I read it and laugh.  I decided this was too good to keep to myself, so I'm sharing it with you.  I love the part about the preacher especially!  Enjoy!
