tulsa oklahoma: Speechless Sunday - The Old Fence Sign in Tulsa Oklahoma - 02/05/12 09:10 AM
You know how it is. You're out showing houses and you come across one of those things that catches your eye. It can be an old light fixture, a retro stove, the marks on the wall showing the heights of the kids who grew up there or even...just a fence that has stood in place for a very long time. This sign caught my eye yesterday as I was showing houses in Tulsa Oklahoma, in an older neighborhood. The house had long since been abandoned and was in foreclosure. But the fence has continued to stand guard through all the changes

tulsa oklahoma: Speechless Sunday - Coney I-Lander in Tulsa Oklahoma - 09/12/10 04:34 PM
Most every city has a restaurant or two that everyone knows about and loves. In Tulsa, Oklahoma, one of our favorites is Coney I-Lander. According to the Internet, a man named Christ Economou came to Tulsa, Oklahoma from Texas in 1926 and opened the city's first Coney I-Lander. I believe you could order one of their hot dogs with everything for about 5 cents originally. Today a couple of coney's, a bag of chips and a drink will run you just under 5 bucks. One thing that everyone loves (besides the Coney's) is unscrambling the daily quote. This is a saying

tulsa oklahoma: Not So Speechless Sunday: First Signs of Spring in Tulsa Oklahoma! - 03/07/10 07:57 AM
It's the first signs of Spring in Tulsa Oklahoma! I shot this picture this past week when I noticed that the daffodils had popped up in the front yard of our Greater Tulsa area home. Our daffodils are always the first sign that Spring is on the way to Tulsa! You will notice the brown grass in this picture. Many people who are not from the Greater Tulsa area often think our grass dies in the wintertime, but this is not true. It more or less "hibernates" by turning brown. If you look down in the grass, there is always a

tulsa oklahoma: Mayo Hotel Returns in Glory to Downtown Tulsa - 11/06/09 08:26 AM
Mayo Hotel Returns in Glory to Downtown Tulsa What do President John F. Kennedy, Bob Hope, Charles Lindbergh, Babe Ruth, Charlie Chaplin and Mae West have to Tulsa, Oklahoma? They all stayed in the once famous and beautiful Tulsa Mayo Hotel in downtown Tulsa. Built in 1925, the Mayo hotel was designed in the Chicago style and patterned after the Plaza Hotel in New York City. It was once Oklahoma's tallest building at 14 whopping floors tall! It originally had 600 rooms, ceiling fans in each room and the first running ice water which made the Mayo hotel a haven from summer heat and humidity of the 20's and

A Visit to My Childhood Home in the Memorial Estates neighborhood in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Recently, our friend Jason Crouch at Active Rain ran a contest inviting folks to write about their childhood home. I decided it sounded like a fun project, so I dove in and wrote about my home in the Memorial Estates neighborhood in Tulsa. This neighborhood was a hopping place when I was a kid in the early 70's. The school was a cutting edge building, the houses was pretty new and the trees were still on the small side. After writing my blog, I decided to go back

tulsa oklahoma: Memories of my childhood home in Memorial Estates in Tulsa, Oklahoma - 08/04/09 08:49 AM
Memories of My Childhood Home in Memorial Estates in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Our house wasn't much different than any of the other houses in the Memorial Estates neighborhood when I was a boy, but to me, growing up in the 70's; it was the center of a fantastic universe! And it was a safe place where things were in order...at least most of the time! Located at 8217 East 38th Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma, the house was a typical three bedroom, two bathroom two car garage single floor house. It had a living room, den, breakfast bar, dining area and the most awesome
