zillow: Zillow, Trulia, Realtor.com and Real Time Search Results - 02/07/12 12:41 PM
Once upon a time there was a building that had a mouse problem.  They knew they had a mouse problem because they found mouse poop in the kitchen drawers.  “Ick!” yelled the cook, “Something must be done!”
So the smart people got together to tackle the problem.  One of them suggested getting a cat.  They would let the cat live in the building and it would take care of the mouse problem for them.  “The problem with that,” said one wise person, “Is that we’ll have to leave the cabinet doors open.  And we’ll have to feed the cat and set … (28 comments)

zillow: Realtor.Com is a Dinosaur - 06/03/11 10:16 AM
I know that there will be some in the Real Estate world who will disagree with the premise of this blog.  And that is okay.  If Realtor.com is a place where you harvest business successfully, then that's awesome.  But I'm betting that there will be many more who will agree with me that the current billing, structure and mode of operation of Realtor.com is a dinosaur.
In the movie, "The Social Network," there is a scene in a disco where Sean Parker says to Mark Zuckerberg,"Napster wasn't a failure.  I changed the music industry for better and for always."

zillow: Are You Wasting Your Time? - 07/17/09 07:16 AM
This morning I woke up and signed onto Active Rain to find an interesting post by Brian Tercero talking about David Gibbonsof Zillow telling everyone in the world that blogging is "so 2008."
You can read the post here
One thing that Brian said that jumped out at me was, "Customers demand a new level of customer service, they are spending hours searching for those brokers that embrace technology and use it to position themselves to be found. They are educating themselves with information those brokers are leaving for them to find on their web sites. And when these customers are … (3 comments)

zillow: Zillow and the Internet - 03/29/09 09:50 AM
Zillow and the internet for home buying.  Good or Bad?
In the world of real estate, many of us real estate professinals did not like Zillow's "Zestimates" when they first came out because they simply were not accurate.  They tended to undervalue homes based on criteria that were not taken from real time market anaylis.
I read a post on Active Rain recently by Jessica Horton in regards to Zillow and how they have publicly dealt with criticism of their formula for giving estimates for homes.  Her post got me to wondering if they still use the same methods and if they are closer to reality these days or not.

zillow: Zillowed - 02/29/08 10:03 PM
I was in a class today learning about the real estate business when the topic of Zillow came up.  The problem with this website, according to my instructor, is that their appraisals are usually not correct.  He said that they base their appraised values on tax records rather than actual values.
Being the curious type, I went out on the Internet to see what reviews I might could find.  I found a very intriguing article at USATODAY.COM entitled, What's your boss's house worth? Zillow can tell you.  It was written by Noelle Knox.  I don't know who he is.  The article … (7 comments)
