first time home buyer tax credit: Did the home buyer tax credit boost sales in Oakland CA? - 04/01/10 05:45 AM
Did or does the home buyer tax credit help the real estate market in Oakland CA?
The following charts seem to indicate that they did
Median for Sale vs Median Sold.  The downward trend shows a slight rise in the final months of the home buyer tax credit as home buyers scramble to meet the deadline and also to capitalize on lower prices and lower interest rates.

Median Sold Price by Quarter - After the plunging median price in the 2008-2009, there is a slight uptick in the 4th quarter of 20009.

first time home buyer tax credit: Senate vote 98-0 to approve tax credit extension --- big news to us, not to them? - 11/04/09 03:16 PM
Received the text this afternoon.
Scrambled to find news articles. The best one I found was on Bloomberg. Headline: "Senate approves extended U.S. homebuyer tax credit"
Posted on Facebook.
Networked at a Chamber mixer. Shared news with other folks who haven't heard about it (yet).
Sent them link to Bloomberg news so that they, in turn, can spread the word.
Extension not passed yet...but with a Senate vote of 98-0 for it, it's almost a certainty that the House will follow suit. Then on for Obama's signature.
Scrambling to find details about this from other news sources.
Barely mentioned in CNN.com under headline of … (5 comments)

first time home buyer tax credit: EXTENDED first time home buyer tax credit, and NEW tax credit for repeat buyer - 10/28/09 04:02 PM
My first time home buyers are whooping it up. Why not? The popular first time home buyer tax credit that was set to expire end of November 2009 may be extended through end of June 2010.
I have buyers who have been looking for months but are getting outbid so many times, or are running out of time waiting for the short sale approval/acceptance of their offers.
Even better, it isn't just first time buyers who have reason to celebrate. A new tax credit was introduced to aid repeat buyers. I wonder if this will apply both for buyers who want to move up … (14 comments)

first time home buyer tax credit: Educating a first time buyer is time-consuming, but they're worth it - 09/27/09 06:30 AM
A San Francisco agent referred a couple to me who are first time buyers looking to buy their first home in the east bay. Yesterday, I invited them to come into the office to discuss their wants and needs and their resources. I gave them a Home Buyer Guide that could be their "bible" as they traverse the way to home ownership.

Wish List: Naturally, they are looking for a 3 bedroom/2 bath home with a garage and a yard. And they'd like to buy in Alameda, east of San Francisco.

Financials:   They've saved $4,000. They are pre-approved for $310,000. They want … (6 comments)

What an exciting time for real estate buyers and sellers!
We truly are living in interesting times. Here are some recent tax breaks to help stimulate the economy, give home buyers and sellers a break:
California’s Mortgage Protection. On April 2, 2009, the California Association of Realtors announced, through the Housing Affordability Fund Mortgage Protection Program, that first-time home buyers who lose their jobs due to layoffs may be eligible to receive up to $1,500 per month, for six months, to help make their mortgage payments.
